Ask the Oracle

I was born April 24, 1959 and am currently up in the air over work, finances, and, of course, my personal life. I can’t see what direction to take, if any, and am not satisfied with life as it is yet I feel unsure what to change at the age of 54. (AM)

Up in the air, unsettled, restless, dissatisfied, unsure – all of these words and many more could describe your current situation as transiting Uranus begins its transit to your 7th house marriage angle and its opposition to your Ascendant while transiting Pluto prepares to conjunct your Nadir and oppose your Midheaven next year. Wow, all 4 angles activated by two of the 3 transpersonal planets will surely rework your life completely. Last year and this year transiting Pluto has been opposing your natal Mars which rules your 7th house of marriage and is in your 9th house of life purpose stressing both your marriage or lack of partnership while making it virtually impossible to know which way to go in your life. Of course, with Uranus and Pluto squaring one another in the sky, transiting  Uranus is also squaring your Mars. Mars co-rules your 2nd house of finances and income leaving that arena also unsettled. Fortunately, both Pluto and Uranus will move past your Mars by the end of the year freeing up your energy, motivation and direction to make the changes you will be making over the next 2 – 3 years. As a Taurus with your Sun in the 7th house of marriage and Libra rising, if you are on your own now Uranus will bring a new, exciting partner with whom you can build a life together and, if you are in a difficult marriage, it will be time to either renew the marriage making it really work or to let it go. Pluto’s added influence intensifies the importance of facing the truths of your current and historical picture in partnership.

Transiting Saturn is now moving into your 2nd house of talents, income and finances insisting that you align your work with your values, utilize your full talents and become fully conscious of what money means to you, how you spend it and what needs to change or grow in order for you to become comfortable with your finances supporting the life you imagine for yourself. With both Pluto and Uranus having aspected your natal Saturn, ruler of your 4th house of home and family, as well as their approach to your Nadir, I would ask if you are living where you wish to live for this chapter of your life. If not, it may be time to make a move. Your description of feeling unsure is quite understandable due to these powerful aspects, therefore, it will be best for you to trust your dissatisfaction as an accurate instinct acknowledging that each arena of your life needs to be reviewed before substantial decisions are made. I would suggest beginning with where to live and where you are in your personal life in order to respect the concerns raised by the Uranus/Pluto transit to your natal Mars/Pluto opposition followed by the potential for a new job, career move or even a new career next year as Jupiter enters your 10th house of career along with the coming Uranus/Pluto influence to the same house. Despite being 54, a careful set of choices over the next couple of years will allow you to enter your 2nd Saturn return solidly living a life you will want to continue to build and enjoy for many more years.

My birth date is March 17, 1960. I have been in an up and down career pattern most of my adult life and, if one looks at the financial picture, since I was a child as my father was a self made millionaire (Scorpio) who lost most of his fortune when I was 15 causing great upheaval in our lives. I floundered through my twenties then became a scenic artist in film enjoying periods of success albeit with much pressure and stress. The industry is very dysfunctional and I hope to put my substantial gifts towards a higher purpose. My unhappy 21 year marriage came to an end in 2010. I am in a period of unemployment just as my ex wife is coming after me for more money and does not have a job either. How do you see my love life and career path unfolding? I am doing breathing work and prayer daily and feel my confidence coming back. Can you comment please? Thank you. (DW)

The good news is that your life is meant to be in a period of intense, significant transition just now as transiting Uranus has been conjunct your Descendant opposing your Ascendant while transiting Pluto has begun a conjunction to your Nadir as it opposes your Midheaven. While this is a highly charged, demanding time in your life, it is also the potential time for a completely new life that is resonant with your dreams. It would be easy to say that the bad news is that your ex wife is seeking more money from you when you are unemployed and that currently you don’t have a job or even that you have had a long period of unhappiness in both your career life and your relationship. Yet, the most important sentence in your question is ”I am doing breathing work and prayer daily and I feel my confidence coming back” which is an ideal statement revealing that you are listening to and trusting your Pisces Sun to guide you to wholeness. As painful as the end of a long marriage is, both the 21 year length of your marriage which is ¾ of a complete Saturn cycle and your description of the marriage as an unhappy one make absolutely clear that you have completed this marriage and are free to find a new, loving partner. I generally find that Pisces men are most successful when they find and commit to a woman who truly loves them, admires their talent and holds a vision of their ultimate success. The profoundly sensitive nature of a Pisces is challenging for a man to carry alone in our western, competitive culture while maintaining inspiration and confidence. Of course, it is not easy for Pisces women to do so alone either but Pisces is a feminine sign lessening somewhat the societal pressure for them and easing the possibility of being supported by a successful man who embraces their dreams. Now that Uranus, the archetype of freedom, has freed you from your long, unhappy marriage you will be able to find your partner.

For the first time since your early 20’s your progressed Mars will be changing signs as it moves from Pisces to Aries unleashing your drive, motivation, engagement and will to accomplish what you are capable of creating. As Mars rules your 7th house of marriage this progression also opens a new, exciting chapter in your romantic life. When your solar arc progressed Mars reached a conjunction to your Descendant, you divorced while over the next 1 ½ years as it moves into your 7th house you are likely to find and marry a creative, loving, supportive partner. Meanwhile, transiting Jupiter will reach your Midheaven this summer offering you more opportunity in your career than you have experienced in the last 12 years when Jupiter last entered your 10th house; your progressed Moon, the Moon ruling your 10th house, has moved into your 2nd house of income for a 2 ½ year stay as you explore, renew, and market your talents as well as describing your reemerging confidence; and, transiting Saturn conjuncting your natal Moon in the 2nd house trining your 6th house Sun will stabilize your career and income over the next 2 years. As a Pisces with your North Node of the Moon in the 12th house it is crucial that you do dedicate your talent to your soul guidance as you have now done. Continuing to pray, to do your healing work and to listen to your spirit as you tap the immense potential of your Pisces soul will allow you to create your own future not replicate your father’s pain. There are many more significant transits and progressions in your chart enhancing this period of your life as the threshold from which you can step into your world.

Ask the Oracle

Do Saturn transits always hit financial matters? Since 2010, when Saturn has been transiting my natal planets, I’ve noticed that when there is a difficult aspect it always involves finances. At the moment transiting Saturn is retrograde in my 7th house. It is going to square my natal Sun again and, yes, financial issues have appeared again. As transiting Saturn is going to oppose my natal Saturn this year, I confess that it worries me a lot. My birthday is January 25, 1971. (SF)

A good question, Saturn does govern the practical issues of our lives which includes finances but is not restricted to that issue. The Astrological reason for your Saturn/financial connection is your natal Venus quincunx Saturn aspect, with natal Venus ruling income and your 2nd house of finances, binding Saturn aspects and its expression through finances for you. Yes, you do have one more transit of Saturn squaring your natal Sun which justifies your concern that you may be facing another financial issue in June/July during that final Sun/Saturn aspect. In addition, you correctly note that transiting Saturn will soon be opposing your natal Saturn and soon entering your 8th house which is the other financial house in a chart. However, rather than focus on the finances, though you will need to find a solution to your current concerns, I would want to know what you do for a living, if your career is a satisfying one, whether your career pays you what you need to survive and thrive, how you prioritize your spending and what your expenses are. I would want to examine the above questions due to your natal Saturn, soon to be opposed by transiting Saturn, ruling your 10th house of career where your natal Sun is placed; due to transiting Saturn moving into your 8th house of financial matters concerning debt, investments and joint finances. With transiting Saturn in your 7th house of partnership for the last several years, I would also consider whether you are married or not; if you are, how your husband’s finances are impacting you; if you are not married, do you wish to be and how hard has it been to manage your life on your own financially.

Several other factors you will want to note would be next year’s transits of Uranus opposing your natal Uranus and Pluto squaring your natal Uranus; transiting Uranus squaring your natal Mercury this year as it approaches a square to your natal Moon and a conjunction to your Ascendant, transiting Pluto conjuncting your natal Mercury this year as transiting Uranus squares it; your progressed Mars moving toward a square to your 6th house natal Pluto; your solar arc Mars conjuncting your natal Moon in the 9th house; your solar arc Jupiter moving to a conjunction to your natal Moon in the 9th house; your solar arc Saturn moving into a square to your 6th house Pluto and your solar arc Neptune moving into a conjunction to your natal Moon. As you can see looking at this extensive list of coming transits and progressions, it is the larger questions of career, location, home and life purpose that are most critical. It is the financial issues that have commanded your attention as they naturally do for all of us but truly they are only symptoms of these larger questions and coming changes which are meant to lead you into a new life, purpose and career.

My date of birth is December 30, 1960. In my late teens/early 20’s I was building a successful acting career, which is a real vocation for me, but as I got older I began having a lot of trouble earning a living at it therefore I became a massage therapist as well. That is still a kind of sideline for me but does not support me, either. Since I was working during my college age years I didn’t get a bachelor degree which I would need in order to teach, etc. I’m determined to re-establish myself in film/TV/voiceover/Commercials, whatever, but don’t seem to be getting anywhere with it really. I do find little things here and there and at some conventions where I make appearances signing autographs due to my film career in the 80’s. I’ve been fortunate to receive a financial buffer since 1994 from a very kind Pisces friend (3/18/38) but he has had financial setbacks the last few years and can no longer afford to help me. This cannot go on forever – I never dreamed my whole financial and work issues would drag on for all this time. I am very concerned about reaching this age/stage of life and not having any security, income or a plan. I am in the process of becoming certified as a Kundalini yoga teacher and am hoping I can put together some kind of business with it and, perhaps, in conjunction with my first love, acting. I’m also hoping that I won’t be alone for the rest of my life. I had an unhappy marriage from 2001 to 2002 or 3 and have had quite a few relationships but am wishing for a true love partnership. I’ve got a very hopeful and positive attitude but when I look at my circumstances in a cold light, they are concerning. (KM)

Wow, 5 of your 10 natal planets are in early/mid degrees of Cancer/Capricorn receiving Uranus and Pluto transits over the last several years and for the next several years while 2 of your natal planets are in early mutable signs soon to receive significant Neptune aspects, while your other 3 planets are in fixed signs where they either are or soon will be aspected by transiting Saturn. This is such an important turning point in your life. Transiting Saturn will conjunct your Ascendant in 2014/15 signaling a new beginning/rebirth for you. Transiting Pluto moved into Capricorn in 2008 where it has already conjuncted your natal Mercury and Sun as it has opposed your natal Mars. Next year transiting Pluto will also conjunct your natal Jupiter while transiting Uranus has also been triggering the same planets since 2010. Since you were born with your 4 Capricorn planets in your 2nd house of earnings/income and your Mars in Cancer is in the 8th house of joint finances/debt/savings/investments/financial angels, it is no wonder you are focused on money, income and security. As both Pluto and Uranus aspect your 8th house Mars, it makes sense that your financial angel is no longer able to assist you.

Yet, this is the time when you can begin again to be a successful career woman making the income you require and more since your financial power is unlimited if you devote yourself to seeing yourself as a business woman. I do not think you are meant to go back to acting as a career due to Mercury, the ruler of your 10th house, progressing into retrograde motion about 9 years ago indicating the need to rethink your career path. This is a new time for you, your career, your vision of yourself, your earnings, your life purpose and your independence. Remember that the 2nd house containing your Capricorn planets is the arena of talents, financial success and self-sufficiency. You are an excellent business woman who can make as much money as you wish when you look at marshalling your talents for business which you can do in the areas that you love and where you have interests and experience. It is not surprising to hear that your marriage life has been rocky when one sees your natal Venus in Aquarius ruling your 7th house is opposing natal Uranus in addition to your natal Moon placed in your 7th house squaring natal Uranus conjunct Pluto. Here again you have the opportunity for a fresh, mature restart as transiting Saturn moves over your Ascendant opposing your Descendant next year and transiting Saturn squares your natal Venus. This year as transiting Uranus moves into your 5th house of creativity and romance for the first time in your life, you will find that you will be inspired by innovative ideas and will meet men who are very different from any you have met before. As important as security is to any earth sign and especially to Capricorns, you have your best earning years ahead of you as you reinvent your career. Trust yourself and your future and get to work.

Ask the Oracle

Hello. I was born April 17, 1992. I have had lifelong issues with the power and control dynamic that shapes every human interaction. I have felt powerless and helpless throughout my young life. I need to feel respected, proud and self-sufficient but this little ram never got that and doesn’t know how to get it. Can you help? This would be the best birthday present ever! Shalom and blessings. (EG)

Power and control – Pluto square Saturn in your natal chart – does clearly define that dynamic as a foundational issue in your life. All human beings, an even higher priority for fire signs, do need to feel respected, proud and self-sufficient, the domain of the Sun and Jupiter. Over the course of your young life you have been moving ever closer to facing your inherent clash between Pluto and Saturn; this clash is now the central focus of your life from 2012 through 2017 as your progressed Sun squared your natal Saturn last year  now moving ever closer to an opposition to your natal Pluto in 2016/2017.

Born with Saturn in the 4th house you surely did not feel the warmth, comfort, support and generous belief in you and your future that would have buoyed you now and throughout your life. Notice that your parents described by your natal Sun (father) which quincunxes Pluto and squares both Uranus and Neptune; and your natal Moon (mother) squares Saturn and quincunxes Venus – were both unable to provide the loving support that would have naturally developed your inner pride and self-respect nor did they model for you the mature self awareness you are seeking to develop. What to do? At your 21st birthday it is time for you to commit to the life work of your Aries Sun which is to develop your own identity, self awareness, courage, and life path. Therefore, your progressed Sun aspects (described above) are the time for you to take charge of feeling respect for and pride in your inherent self as you become self-sufficient.With Libra rising and your Sun conjunct your Descendant opposite your Ascendant, it is too easy for you to expect others to give you the respect Aries must develop for themselves.

Despite the difficult aspects to your natal Sun/Moon, your natal Moon does trine your Mars and sextile your Jupiter while your while your natal Sun sextiles Saturn showing you that you can self motivate, work diligently and successfully to achieve what you seek. It would be helpful to read some good descriptions of your South Node in Cancer and North Node in Capricorn which emphasize the lack of family support in your early life and the soul demand to mature into responsibility for yourself and your life achievements. I think your well-aspected Mars in your 5th  house of romance, creativity and children which rules your 7th house of partnership will lead you to a successful marriage with a partner and children providing love and belonging at or near your 1st Saturn return at age 28. Meanwhile, your task is find a job that utilizes your skills, your chart ruler Venus is in your 6th house of work, as you build a career and achievements in which you can earn respect and feel pride while becoming self-sufficient. By your 30’s you will be a ram far up the mountain of your life. Happy Birthday!

I was born March 11, 1946 now living abroad in Australia. I have had 3 marriages – my first was a philanderer who saw me as boring and never enough while my second and third were both abusive. I’m feeling the effects of Uranus through my 1st house at the moment doing so much around my recently purchased home (2011) but I wonder if there may be a partner or male in my life or will it be more of the hard work and creative outlets for the rest of my life? I seem to attract men who need and want a mother whilst I want an equal partner/friend/lover but see all around me that women seem to put up with some pretty subtle forms of abuse which I won’t settle for. It can get lonely for me at times without male company to talk things over with. Regards. JN

No wonder men see you as an ideal mother figure; a result of your Moon/Mars/Saturn in Cancer. Just because you are a feminine, caring, supportive woman does not mean you are seeking a man to mother though it does mean that men who are seeking mothering will target you. Fortunately, you have left hurtful marriages, setting your sights on a partnership between equals. I am sure your Moon in Cancer, Pisces Sun/Venus/Ascendant and Neptune/Jupiter in your 7th house of partnership means you will be somewhat lonely without a partner.

Since your Moon and Mars are in Cancer in your 4th house of home, this new house is blessing and foundation for your life. Hopefully, you have a creative/artistic and/or spiritual life which gives full expression to your natal Sun/Venus conjunction in your 12th house and your natal Saturn/Pluto in the 5th house of creativity and art. Certainly, your natal chart does show marriage, due to your Venus conjunction to your Ascendant and your chart rulers in your 7th house of partnership. Natal Jupiter in your 7th house and mutable signs on your Ascendant/Descendant angles do suggest more than one marriage. Is there one more to come?

With transiting Uranus and Pluto challenging your natal Mercury/Neptune opposition, ruling your 1st and 7th houses, these last few years, that desirable marriage would not have been likely. Currently, there are encouraging signs of a possible relationship – transiting Jupiter is moving into your 5th house of romance this fall for a year, your solar arc progressed Mercury which rules your 7th house is conjuncting your natal Uranus (someone new and different from other men in your life), your progressed Venus will conjunct your natal North Node of the Moon in 3 years while it conjuncts your progressed Node this year. These aspects suggest a new relationship this year or next year which will develop gently over a couple of years. Remember that natal Jupiter in the 7th house will always offer you a relationship throughout your life; your mission has been to develop the wisdom, boundaries and inner strength to say no to the wrong relationships while saying yes to the right one. Good luck.

Ask the Oracle

I was born on March 17, 1970. For the last year transformation is happening and at this point I’m still positive but the search for my passion is really difficult. I live in Maryland though I was born in South America. I would thank you if you could provide any information that would guide me toward my dream job. I am too sweet (also a type 1 diabetic). At this point in my life I have Cobra, a partner, a car and a condo but I am not inspired by these benefits…like a rebirth would be perfect at this point starting from zero. Thanks to you and Grandma Moon for supporting your visions. OM. (CM)

The gifts and blessings of your Sun in Pisces are apparent in your life through your home, partner, car and health insurance yet you also describe the angst of a Pisces longing for a meaningful purpose, a means to give back in the world. What is your mission in this life? This is the question that tickles and troubles you. Naturally you would focus on your spiritual path since transiting Neptune, the ruler of your Sun/authentic self, moved into Pisces last year for its 14 year stay though it will not reach the degree of you Sun/Mercury for many years.

Last fall as transiting Saturn, life’s timer, moved into Scorpio beginning its opposition to your natal Saturn, you feel the pressure of time moving forward demanding that you question where you have been for the last 15 years, where you are now and where you going for the next 15 years. It is time for Saturnian reflection, assessment and decisions, serious choices. Saturn is the co-ruler of your career house clearly stating that your spiritual path is also your career. I am sure you appreciate how blessed you are yet you are quite right to feel that nothing out there answers these soul questions or comforts you as you seek to find your path forward. Venus which rules your chart is receiving a conjunction from transiting Uranus in Aries as transiting Uranus opposes its natal position which is the reason you feel the need for a rebirth, a new birth is the work of Uranus.  In addition to Uranus transiting your Venus, transiting Pluto is also squaring your Venus this year intensifying the depth, meaning, painful struggle toward  and necessity for you to rebirth your awareness, career, and life path.

Your Saturn transit will be complete in late August while transiting Jupiter will trine your natal Saturn in July leading to career opportunities later this summer. Both your Uranus and Pluto aspects will continue into 2014, know that this rebirth will unfold in stages. Your mission now is to get started. But what is that dream job or, at least, how can you begin to move toward that work. Notice that your Midheaven, the career angle, is Aquarius, its rulers in the 5th and 12th houses, therefore, your new career must be creative, able to affect the people you work with and serve, must be in alignment with your deepest beliefs, and impactful in the world which brings together your 5th, 11th, 12th house positions. I would suggest utilizing this time to volunteer someplace doing work you believe in while you seek a non-profit or small organization, 11th house planets, to begin your new career. Currently your progressed Moon is in your career house supporting you working with people and organizations who are seeking to impact the world positively. Working soon will allow Neptune to inspire your inner guidance as it magically connects you to the people, places and timing for your dream work.

I had recurrent nightmares as a child, two of which I remember quite well. They later diversified, multiplied, and then stopped, only to be replaced by dreams of an already familiar weirdness but of less grandeur. In many of these nightmares I witnessed the end of the world which I survived only once. As a child I would cry then wake up. Later I dreamt of the sea, killer waves, earthquakes and explosions. I have died in my dreams many times and in many ways. I fear the end of the world. I once thought I would get over it so I kept it hidden for a very, very long time. As the nightmares ceased, the world out there gradually took their place handing me innumerable proofs of its fragility. Since 1999 I have been expecting its end which seems to be just around the corner for as soon as one tragedy ends another one begins. I know life has its ups and downs; I know we are here to learn certain things; I know things change…but here’s the tricky thing. Though I KNOW these truths, I FEEL differently. I have tried reasoning my way out of this fear but there is no way to heal when you cannot feel.

I think I’ve felt enough, now I want to heal. I was always an “ideal child”…a straight A student, loved by my family and friends, getting along with everyone except my mother who was bold, independent and nonconformist. Now I realize the many, many gifts my mother gave me guiding me toward my North Node. My life has been good, blessed but I’ve have kept many things hidden; not so long along they came bubbling out, my existential malaise. I’m in a vicious circle and I can’t break free. I’m still not comfortable with myself though I have stopped blaming myself, punishing myself for not doing everything well enough, and improving my relationship with myself. Astrology has helped me immensely. I’ve begun this new journey of mine in January 2012. I am now sure that this is what I wish to do with my life. Could Saturn in Scorpio be the cause of my nightmares and fears because now I fear the world even more? I need to understand which is why I am asking for help. It’s my heart that has been broken to pieces. Something I can’t get over is nailing me to the floor but I cannot say what it is. I guess I have been doing too much thinking, too little living. I want to live each day as if there are a few more to come. It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this way. I’ve learned that some people have everything except for a peaceful inner life…I am one of them. What do I need to change about myself so that I can feel better?  I was born July 30, 1987 in Europe. Thank you deeply for your time and consideration. I couldn’t make my letter shorter. (In order to respond to this letter, I did edit it while carefully including the salient issues.) TD

Bless Astrology for the wisdom, comfort and guidance it has provided you, me and so many in our troubled world. It is truly a gift to have found Astrology and spiritual wisdom to initiate you into a life of awareness rather than to live and die never knowing why you have been dreaming, feeling and being broken. Your chart shows an initial tug of war between the more traditional side of yourself, Saturn rising, the Moon in Virgo and the Sun in Leo conjunct Venus. Of course, you are “ideal”, beloved, caring and cared for, an A student, blessed and grateful, yet, your Sun/Venus/Mars conjunction in Leo is in Scorpio’s 8th house squaring your natal Pluto, both Uranus and Neptune are in your 1st house and your Moon is conjunct your Midheaven. The conventional versus deep perception, hard working versus broken by feeling and blessed versus troubled, this is the tension awakening you.

Powerful 8th house, Pluto positions are often troubled and gifted by dreams of one’s own shadow fears, deaths, tragedies and catastrophes which either break them or transform them into healers, agents of transformation in the world. The first responsibility of these positions is to heal and transform yourself which you are currently dedicated to achieving. Focus on understanding your fears, worries and need to understand with your mind as both true and defensive needs of your Virgo Moon and Saturn rising. For now, stop watching CNN or other news media who immerse us in one tragedy after another replaying painful images, discussing how bad it all is as they exclude most of the good news, heroic acts and green shoots of the new world rising. Search for the positive news and people who are all around us. As truly tragic and troubled as the world is now, we are on the cusp of the Aquarian Age, new and more humane time in which you will play a role that you are now preparing to play.

Note that your progressed Sun/Moon/Mercury/Venus/Mars are now all in your 9th house of spiritual seeking and life purpose. This is your time to study, learn, listen and grow into the wisdom which will support your understanding, your inner peace and your work in the world as all of these planets eventually progress into your 10th house of career. Trust your wise guidance to cease thinking so much, trying to understand with your mind in order to live, find joy, love, fill your heart with trust and faith. I can say from decades of experience that you can live feeling the pain of the world, loving the world as it births its next consciousness and understanding as much we can understand while we are in this form. This unfolds gradually endlessly reminding us to be humble in our awareness that we do not and cannot understand the purpose of it all as life evolves.

As Jupiter moves into your 7th house this spring, you will meet more like-minded people which will be comforting. As transiting Saturn completes its current conjunction to your natal Pluto and squares to your natal Sun/Venus/Mars over the next year, you will feel much clearer as you develop the resources internally and externally to live productively in this world as it is. Remember that your natal Saturn trines your natal Sun/Venus/Mars providing the strength to build a healthy, meaningful life without ceasing to feel. You will find a productive use for your dreams and visions. Continue to study Astrology, pursue your innate wisdom through your 9th house Moon which will aid you in channeling your over active mind into compassionate action, and know that you can break out through your natal Moon square Uranus; not only through Astrology but through the bold, independent qualities you inherited from your mother’s example. Both you and the world will get better.

Ask the Oracle

My birthday is May 19, 1971. Last year my life underwent a radical change. I found out in February that I was pregnant: and, in April, learned I was having twins. My husband got a new job and, subsequently, we moved away from my home town to a new city (my first time moving cities) mid-pregnancy. I left my job to become a stay at home Mom. I also lost two loved ones to cancer last year. Sometimes I feel like I’m still reeling from all the change that manifested in 2012. I want to embrace 2013 and all it has to offer, but I am feeling apprehensive about what is to come. I entered 2012 so full of positivity and motivation (having spent a great deal of 2011 in counseling for depression and anxiety) but had to let many of my dreams and goals go dormant while I navigated these huge life changes. I’m forever thankful for my beautiful, healthy children and how supported I was by friends/family/the Universe through all these big changes. But I can’t help hoping that 2012 will be a little easier, that I will come back a bit to myself and my center, and that we can find our forever home and make some new friends. Can you tell me if the astrological patterns for 2013 will be supportive of my intentions to ease into the role of “Mom” with balance and grace while maintaining my sense of self. And if I will have some help settling into my new community and finding kindred spirits. As a Taurean, I really value having roots and a home base/support network. Thank you so much for your insights and the opportunity to consult you. Many blessings. (RW)

In 2012, Jupiter gave: Neptune blessed and released. In 2012 transiting Jupiter was in Taurus conjunct your Sun/Saturn/Descendant, trine your Pluto, and sextile your Moon. You were blessed by your pregnancy, the birth of your beautiful children, your husband’s new job and the support you received from friends and family; and, as transiting Neptune squared your Neptune/Jupiter many of your dreams and goals had to be laid aside for now, you had to let go of your home base moving to a new location, home and community, and, most importantly, you lost two loved ones to cancer. Neptune’s blessings are rarely apparent at the outset of the transit though its losses are only too painfully clear, however, in time as you find your home base, build a network of friends and support in your new community and “ease” into your role as Mom, you will see the gifts and blessings Neptune intended for your future.

Both your natal Mars in Aquarius and your Nodes of the Moon in Aquarius and Leo have been powerfully aspected in the last year and will be again in 2013/2014, clarifying the importance of these recent changes/movements in your destiny path. The most important of the transits to these positions were transiting Uranus sextile your natal Uranus, transiting Saturn square your natal Uranus, your solar arc Moon square your natal Uranus and your solar arc Pluto square your natal Uranus, along with your secondary progressed Sun quincunx your natal Uranus. Your Nodes received a quincunx from secondary progressed Mercury, a square from solar arc Uranus and will next receive a square from transiting Saturn. This convergence of aspects stress your need to be willing, as you have been, to welcome change, movement into new places with new people and to release the past as you embrace the possibilities of where all of this change is directing you.

Will 2013 be easier? Yes, the Neptune transits are either complete (transiting Neptune square your natal Neptune) or will be by year’s end (transiting Neptune square your natal Jupiter). Transiting Saturn is now in your 12th house, suggesting the need to take time to nurture yourself, return to inner work, find a bit of quiet time, allow yourself to ease into your mother role, and utilize the techniques you learned to calm anxiety and find the messages in depression. This is not the time to push yourself to get it all done, which is a shadow behavior of the Taurus archetype; not when transiting Saturn will still be square your Mars until September, solar arc Pluto will still be square your Mars for a few more months as will your solar arc Moon. As transiting Neptune approaches a conjunction to your IC and opposes your MC (the home and career angles) synchronicity will either find your “forever” home for you or trust that you will find it at the right time, no pressure. It will be more productive to focus on your progressed Moon in Libra in the 11th house to make friends, join any groups that appeal to you and can be supportive as you review your goals allowing them to expand, grow and shift to express the woman you are becoming through all the massive changes you experienced in 2012. As your progressed Sun comes into a square to your natal Uranus, as transiting Uranus opposes your natal Uranus and transiting Pluto squares your natal Uranus, you will meet more change, need time to assimilate the changes that have happened and find your direction for the future which continues to awaken. Trust Uranus to show you the way to your “right” destiny.

I would like to know how to choose my life direction for the coming years. I was born September 1, 1953. I feel very frustrated at my work sitting at the computer with little contact with co-workers or customers other than by phone or email. I am bored and missing a lively atmosphere. I have done this work for 9 of the last 10 years. I dream of retiring to Berlin which I have visited often or, perhaps, another European city. I feel more at home when I am abroad. I do have a nice apartment of my own though I have a big loan to pay off. My two children are young adults with their own studies and jobs who contact me at least once a week as we now live in different cities. My energy level is high in the mornings but evaporates during my office hours leaving me exhausted at night and on the weekends. I have been working for 40 years with stints as a journalist, teacher, in banks and real estate offices but my profession has been as a secretary. I had a position as a secretary at one bank which was my favorite however that bank collapsed in 1992.

I was divorced in 1990, have had a serious love affair with a married man (my mistake) and several foreign men during my free years but none of these worked.

I am a bit afraid of my coming years since I live alone with a couple of friends and my retired brother and his wife in this town but not much company. Though I dream of some independent work, these are very unstable times in the EU countries when you can’t find another job and may even get sacked by your company. I haven’t found the courage to start my own business which might be a shop with astrology, handicrafts, books, flowers or some of the things I love. So, I don’t really know what’s coming and how long I can bear my situation. I am very energetic and youthful but am becoming quiet and isolated living like a hermit due to the situation. Please give me some advice on which way to proceed: bite my teeth in my current position, try to find another more suitable job, leave my job totally or move abroad with a minimum of income? I would not like to have a lonely old age as my mother, a widow, had living alone for 30 years. I am scared I have inherited this way of life though we are very different persons. She was an Aries. Can you help? MM

How to proceed is just the right question for a Virgo woman who has just completed her second Saturn return in 2012. In May of 2013 you will have a Jupiter return which suggests that you look back at where you were, what you wanted and how you have grown in the last 12 years in order to gain more perspective on where you are now, how you got here and where you want to direct your energy and dreams for the next 12 years. In 2014 transiting Jupiter will conjunct your Ascendant which will be a time to begin your life again expanding into a future that is more vital and satisfying. Your natal Saturn position is in the sign of Libra in the 5th house of children and romance ruling the 7th house of partnership.

Fortunately, you are not mourning a life without children, though you do not have the loving relationship with a partner that you have built and maintain with your two children. Looking at your natal Venus conjunction to your Ascendant, your North Node of the Moon in your 7th house conjunct your Descendant, and your natal Saturn in the house of romance conjunct Neptune trine your Moon/Jupiter and sextile your Mars/Pluto, I think your destiny is not to live the rest of your life alone but is to find a partner with whom you can share your life. You are likely to meet this partner later this year or next year as your progressed Venus moves into your 5th house of romance, trine your natal Moon (which rules your chart). In 2013, transiting Neptune completing its quincunx to your natal Venus may delay this meeting into 2014, however, this future should be reassuring.

Transiting Neptune is moving to conjunct your Midheaven, the career angle, in 2014 though you are already surely feeling the depressing, soul deadening impact of this transit at your current job. I would suggest looking for another position this spring during your Jupiter return as Jupiter co-rules your 10th house of career; partly, because there is a possibility of finding a better position during your Jupiter return but also I am a bit concerned that you may lose your current position as your solar arc Jupiter moves into a conjunction to your natal Pluto in 2014. Using Jupiter’s opportune energy to seek a better job which you are likely to find, even though this seems unlikely, is your best direction just now. Then take your time over the next year as transiting Jupiter moves into your 12th house to deepen your relationship with yourself, read and study spiritual material, and come to trust the future which is yours not that of your mother. Remember that Neptune will gift you with a deeper faith, the people and situations that can help you fulfill your dreams and your potential destiny if you prepare yourself to receive as you live gratefully.

Ask the Oracle

Where do I begin? I want to ask about my love life and my income life. I also want to ask what to focus on in my creative life. My birthday is December 1, 1956. Talk about confused. I’m getting an itch to move to another state – a warmer climate. Should I start packing? I have so much to get done but wonder if I will have help. Most of all I just want to be able to get the best out of the universe and my path. What cautions should I notice? I’m looking for the “how” on my path, to get the most out of what is coming. Thanks for any insight you might have which I value. (SA)

So glad you asked. This is an important time to ask about your love life and income life. With 4 degrees of Aquarius on your 7th house angle of marriage and partnership, the Descendant, it is crucial to notice that your progressed Sun moved into your 7th house 3 years ago while your solar arc progressed Moon has just moved into your 7th house and your solar arc progressed Saturn will move into your 7th house in 2014. Wow, this is an unusual and powerful indicator of a committed partnership developing over the coming year; a relationship that will be a healing force in your life as your progressed Sun conjuncts your natal Chiron in the 7th house. You are entering a new chapter in your love/marriage life as your progressed Sun is not only now in your 7th house but also has just opposed your natal Uranus which rules your 7th house. The spotlight is clearly on love and marriage.

With natal Uranus so closely conjunct your Ascendant (2 degrees), you frequently get an itch, however, your 9th house of long distance moves does show transiting Uranus in the 9th,where it has been for several years now trine your natal Uranus, Saturn, Moon and Sun. A move is likely during these trines but I suspect it would be more successful when your solar arc progressed Jupiter conjuncts your North Node of the Moon in your 4th house of home in 2014 as transiting Saturn also conjuncts your North Node at that time. It might be better to get that “so much” done first. A caution for this time period would be to focus on building your income now that transiting Neptune is finished squaring your 2nd house, the house of income, Pluto which you can improve as transiting Jupiter opposes your natal Sun. Transiting Saturn is currently conjunct your natal Venus describing a time to focus on your stabilizing your home (natal Venus in the 4th, your finances and your career before making any major moves.

My life is good and I am thankful for all the blessings I have received but one consistent thing lacking in my life has been steady female companionship. I’ve had girlfriends and I could have been married to a couple of them but I knew deep down that it would not work out in the long run. Eventually, I met someone who I thought was the right person and married but when things got tough in the marriage my ex wife decided to have an affair and run away from the difficulties. At 50, am I destined to be alone for the rest of my life? I was born October 30, 1962. Thanks. (RL)

Thankfully, your life is good and even more importantly you are grateful for the blessings you enjoy. Equally important, you did not marry women you did not feel you could commit to fully. Scorpios do know instinctively what and who resonates with their soul and life path. It is crucial to trust that instinct as you have done which is likely why your life is essentially as good as you report that it is. Not only are you a Scorpio Sun, your Venus and Neptune are also in Scorpio which along with your natal Pluto (Scorpio’s ruling planet) in Scorpio’s 8th house describe your challenge finding true intimacy in a loving relationship. Notice that your Sun in Scorpio is in a T-Square conjunct Neptune square Mars and Saturn; all of which are closely aspected to your nodes of the Moon. In addition to these prominent indicators of desire for and conflict in intimacy, your natal Venus, the planet of love and relationship, was in retrograde motion at your birth suggesting many stepping stones in your love life before you achieve a stable life partnership. All of these challenging patterns confirm your struggle finding and keeping a loving partner in your life. However your aspects are improving, your Venus progressed to direct motion when you were 34, transiting Saturn is no longer in your 8th house of intimacy as it was a few years ago, transiting Neptune is no longer square your natal Moon or Venus (the planets that represent women in a man’s life) as it was the last few years, and your solar arc progressed Mercury (the ruler of your 7th house of marriage) is no longer square your natal Uranus/Pluto as it was for most of the last decade. Ouch, no wonder you have experienced difficulties in your previous marriage followed by betrayal and loss and loneliness.

Now the good news is that transiting Jupiter is moving into your 7th house of partnership/marriage in May while your progressed Moon will conjunct your natal Mercury in 10 months. Over the next 12 months, your potential (shown by Jupiter’s opportune movement into your 7th house) for meeting a partner is much more positive than it has been in many years. For these reasons, I would expect your romantic life to be more enjoyable soon, however, the lifetime, loving partner you desire and sense will be in your life may not appear until a bit later in your 50’s or someone you meet over the next year maybe a relationship that develops over a number of years. If you have not pursued personal growth through therapy, spiritual path work or healing/energy work, I would strongly recommend you do so in order to transform your 8th house planets into allies rather than disappointments. No, your chart not only does not indicate that you are destined to be alone in this lifetime, it clearly supports a later (Sun square Saturn) fulfillment of your destiny which for a Scorpio must include a deeply intimate shared life and love.

Ask the Oracle

I am so happy I found your site! I am a Capricorn born January 16, 1984. My whole life has been marked with one dark, tragic journey after another. I was born into just about the worst, most toxic/negative family who tried my entire childhood to destroy my bright nature and positivity through their verbal, physical and emotional abuse. I escaped them barely and have always tried to do the right thing but my life is constantly shattered by tragedy. I am a hair stylist and artist finding that none of my clientele is sticking. It’s like people hate everything I do. My apartment is in evictions, my husband was cheating on me with many women, and no one wants to rent my spare room which would help me avoid eviction. Nothing seems to ever go right for me no matter how hard I try, work or improve. Literally from birth I have had horrible luck. I am not sure I can go on another 29 years if this is it. Are there any transits coming up that I can look forward to? I greatly appreciate any insight you can lend me. (CC)

The first 29 ½ years of your Capricorn life has been very hard, tough, painful and seemingly unfair as you struggle to survive and thrive with the world throwing one hardship, loss and betrayal after another at you. As you meet your first Saturn return this fall it is quite reasonable to confront the reality that if this is all your life will ever be, why would you want to continue it for another 29 ½ years. Saturn returns are a renewal of our soul/destiny contract. The questions, observations and reflections you describe are just the ones you ideally would be asking in order to make the best possible decisions about how to proceed.

I am sure you do have a light, bright spirit which is clearly delineated by your Gemini Ascendant and 4 planets in Sagittarius yet you also have exquisite sensitivity shown by your Cancer Moon and 3 planets in Scorpio. The Gemini and Sagittarius archetypes are light, bright and positive while the Scorpio and Capricorn archetypes are dark, defensive and fearful. Both are you, the bright child, defending your spirit against the dark, hurtful family; both are also within you, one conscious and one unconscious. It is inevitable that a part of your nature/spirit would be unconscious when your only experience of the Scorpio/Capricorn qualities has been your painful family history.

Your Saturn return is not a choice between a life with more luck or one that remains stubbornly unlucky; it is a choice to let go of your past, face your internal shadow, pain and fear, and integrate that history in order to find your strength, mission and magnetism. Clearly, your family past is not your fault but this is the right time to heal that past by entering your 8th house subconscious (Scorpio’s work) where both the memories and the healing power lie. This deep healing, shadow, transformative work cannot be done entirely alone, only with and through others as you do your work.

Yes, a transpersonal therapist along with a talented energy, body worker would be perfect but, no, the money isn’t available for that right now. I would suggest you look for a group that is doing shadow work with a competent guide, perhaps through a Unity Church. It is time to replace your harsh family with a caring group who will support and love you. What I am suggesting is that your Saturn return is meant to be the healing that opens the door to a wholly new, healthy life. Capricorns believe if they just work harder, it will all change, however, your shadow/opposite sign as well as your Moon are in the sign of Cancer. You need TLC with people who will not abuse your vulnerability, who will embrace it. You already work hard enough; now your lesson is to work with others who will work with you. Scorpio planets (your Mars/Pluto/Saturn) do attract jealousy, envy, competition, betrayal and rejection until they don’t. That shift is your re-empowering yourself through deep healing after which you will attract the future not the continual out picturing of the past.

First, this Saturn return is the time to make the next 29 ½ years what you are capable of without the burden of your past. Jupiter conjuncted your Ascendant last spring where it is offering a reset, more confident better future when you let go and move on. Uranus is trining your natal Uranus allowing and encouraging you to either leave or remake your marriage and find a like-minded business environment and clientele. Neptune is trining your natal Mars/Pluto dissolving everything that is not resonant with your future destiny which will lead to that job, insight and healing opportunity which is resonant. Dissolving, letting go, is painful but necessary when what we letting go of is hurting us. Recent transits and progressions have been very hard; however, these developments are now over. Your progressed Venus will conjunct your natal Sun over the next year which leads to love, financial gain, a much better work environment and spiritual growth and happiness. It is going to get better though your ticket to that future does require emotional change and release.

Hi, I was born June 17, 1983. I recently lost my job on December 3, 2012. It is not the first time this has happened. I also lost my job in December 2010. Each New Year I get a new job but come December it is always the same. Please help. (KD)

Ouch, this continual pattern is discouraging. Interestingly, you were born with both Saturn and Pluto conjunct in the 10th house of career leading to many challenges in your career direction, experience and job security. Venus, which rules your 10th house of career, is in Leo sextile your Jupiter/Uranus/Mercury telling us that you can always find jobs due to your talents, ideas, presentation and skills. You are an attractive candidate, however, keeping a job is challenging unless or until you find a career, position, company and colleagues who can offer you the Saturn security/future and Pluto opportunity to contribute/empowerment you rightly seek. The bad news is that this combination has made it hard to find the right job or career opportunity creating your pattern of insecure jobs and losses (the shadow experience of your 10th house Saturn/Pluto); the good news is that this can be the end of your frustrating career pattern due to your Saturn return last year in your 10th house.

It is crucial that you are as careful as you can financially afford to be as you seek and choose to accept a new job which must meet as many of your criteria as possible. For you, just getting the job is not the issue; ask yourself what you really want in a job, where you want go in your career future and how you plan to achieve your career goals. This time just after your Saturn return is the time to seriously examine not your past jobs or reasons for their ending but your responsibility to know what you want, what you need to do to achieve your goals and to be completely honest about what you must change/develop in yourself to empower your own career future. This is a breakthrough/pattern shattering moment.

Transiting Jupiter will move into your 6th house of work/jobs in the spring where it can deliver either a job or a promotion if you have already found a job. With transiting Saturn still in your 10th house (and squaring Venus, the ruler of your career house until fall) be willing to work hard, learn as much as you can in and outside your job and build a foundation for your success. As transiting Neptune squares your natal Mercury/Jupiter/Uranus, it is crucial to listen to your own guidance/intuition and to find/trust your vision for your desired future. Your Gemini Sun/Mercury/Mars is bright, charming, verbal and engaging, however, you can be a bit impulsive and easily bored which may be affecting your job choices and performance; yet your Virgo Moon is less confident, more tentative and a bit unsure of how successful you have been or can be yet hardworking, skilled and competent. Hopefully, you either have or are seeking a loving, supportive partner which is always an emotional anchor for a Gemini. This is the time when you can begin and build a successful professional and personal life.

Ask the Oracle

I was born on July 19, 1991. I have since developed a number of gifts and come into numerous blessings. While I was interested in divination and the occult at a very early age, I consciously began to take my identity as a mystic seriously in April 2011 when a watershed of life events changed everything for me (notably, having my love reciprocated from someone I had fallen passionately in love with a year and a half before). I began to experience incredible signs in nature – visits from numerous animal spirit guides and synchronicities that astounded me. That fall I began to practice Tibetan Vajrayana tantra, enthusiastically follow the Moon’s cycles and feel powerful. The following January my beloved, whom I had been living with, had to leave the United States. My life has grown increasingly more complicated and depressed since. Last summer I lived and travelled in Nepal and had many, extraordinary spiritual experiences that I hoped would help me live a happy, centered life and, while I cherish these experiences immensely, they also served to exaggerate my self-indulgent melancholy upon returning to my studies this fall. I had a few fearful visions and have been desperately uncomfortable in my own skin for much of my time since. With my Sun and Vesta in the 12th house, I remain rather “in the dark” about who I am as an individual and what I ought to be doing with this life and very often feel a terribly crippling emotional pain that makes me feel like I’m at my wit’s ends. Though I am ashamed to admit it, I have thought about killing myself for most of the days of the past few months. I have a history of acts of gentleness and kindness but am prone to harrowing self-sabotage and self-loathing. Could you shed any light on my situation? Any advice you could provide would be deeply appreciated. (MH)

Gentleness, kindness, deep sensitivity and the capacity to feel equally deep loss and suffering are visible both in your Cancer Sun and your Scorpio Moon. Yes, you do have positions in the 12th house, most importantly your natal Sun which is conjunct your 1st house Chiron, which are indicators of the inner journey required to truly know yourself, rather than the easier though more superficial, unexamined sense of self most know.

I think your current painful struggle with the loss of your beloved, leading you into the underworld to meet again your harrowing self sabotage, self loathing and melancholy, is clearly delineated by your natal Moon in Scorpio tightly squaring your natal Saturn in Aquarius conjunct the Descendant triggered by transiting Saturn in Scorpio these last few months; a transit that will continue into the next 6 months. This is the time when you are being called to enter Scorpio’s underworld to meet, know and learn to direct your Moon/Saturn as a more integrated aspect of your nature with a valuable function. Do not face this darkness alone or utilizing only your previous coping skills, it is time for safe support through friends, healers or at least a spiritual/psychological process that can both guide and heal. It is also important to concentrate on transiting Neptune which is and has been opposing your natal Mars/Venus conjunction confirming the soulful depth of your recent love as well as its loss. However, Neptune (ruler of the 12th house where your Sun resides) has much more to teach you about what the path of the mystic, healer, teacher is and will be for you. Study Neptune through Astrology and mythology but be careful during this time (which includes 2013/2014) to stay grounded, to pursue spiritual experiences safely and gently.

Also, note that both your progressed Venus and Mercury are retrograde and will be for a number of years, therefore, be willing to take your time to enjoy your retrograde path to development and purpose. With your natal Mercury in Leo conjunct Jupiter and square Pluto, it is important to cease pushing, needing to know and seeking powerful experiences which you may not yet be prepared for, take it easy trusting magic and synchronicity to lead you gracefully. 2014, when transiting Jupiter conjuncts your Sun and Ascendant, will be a renewal period of growing awareness. The next 2-3 months as your progressed Moon moves into a square to your natal Pluto, be especially careful in meditation, yoga or any spiritual pursuit not to overdo; rather work with a healer, a therapist or a grounded spiritual exploration of your past/family befitting the Moon and your 4th house Pluto. Hopefully, this light shed on your chart will encourage and guide you during this challenging time.

I’ve come to realize things about myself that are hurtful and disturbing that I feel have been caused by my mother. I have felt for years that people see me as positive, happy, good self worth and not insecure but people avoid me after a while and I have no friends. I’ve always thought that people were jealous and I am guessing some are but I have come to realize that maybe some are not. I have no idea how others see me and what my face portrays but I am beginning to feel that I must have a look of pain, passivity or a look of torture. It seems to me that some find me easy to take advantage of. My mother, I feel, hated me because she was jealous or envious. I never felt loved by her at all. She was always a little mean to me, critical and never really praised me. She never took my side against anyone including my brothers. My mother would take anyone’s side against me, no matter whom it was or what they did to me. I have been on the receiving end of jealousy from other women because of my looks and I am not sure what else they could be jealous of because I am a nice person. I think my husband may be a homosexual trying to end his relationship with me by being abusive. He has done some horrible things to me, accuses me. I think he is envious of me. I need serious help because whatever look I show to the world is causing me not to have friends. I do not feel passive inside but obviously something wrong is showing to the world. I have been crying because my mother, I feel, did a job on me. If I had some insight, I could work on things about myself. I was born July 17, 1948. (SOD)

Scorpio rising, natal Saturn conjunct Pluto, Chiron in Scorpio, South Node of the Moon in Scorpio and Sun/Mercury/Uranus in Scorpio’s 8th house highlight the pain, loss, hurt, jealousy, and depth of emotional trauma you are describing. Interestingly, your 7th house of marriage partners and your 11th house of friends are ruled by your natal Venus, which is conjunct Uranus, the ruler of trauma residing in your 8th house. This confirms the relationship you suspect between your early emotional history and your suffering in marriage, friendship and life.

As a Cancer Sun, your relationship with and emotional sensitivity to your mother, her behavior and her emotional makeup and history is now and always was powerfully affecting. Generally one’s mother is described by the Moon in your natal chart. In your chart, your natal Moon is in Sagittarius conjunct Jupiter in the 1st house opposing your Venus in the 7th house and Uranus in the 8th house, clearly showing the trauma that your mother experienced in her own history. This trauma was projected onto you (whether intended or not)m shaping your 1st house self-awareness, your 7th house choice of and relationship with your spouse as well as your consistent experience of 8th house betrayal, jealousy, and pain. Fortunately, your natal Moon also trines Saturn/Pluto and sextiles Neptune affirming your kindness, positive nature and goodness.

The confusion you report is visible through your Mercury in Cancer in the 8th house squaring Neptune. For the last several years and through 2013, transiting Pluto and Uranus have either been in hard aspect to that square or approaching those hard aspects. This has focused you on understanding what is happening, why it is happening and what you can do to see and be seen differently. Your 7th house of marriage is ruled by Venus, natally conjunct Uranus, suggesting that you have been or will be separated or divorced. Your progressed Venus is approaching your natal Pluto indicating that a divorce will likely occur in a year or no longer than 3 years which may be necessary for your healing.

Due to your natal Neptune in your 11th house, it is not just that you aren’t seen clearly by friends or disappointed by them, it is also that you don’t see them as they are leading to your experience of being taken advantage of by them.

This spring as transiting Jupiter moves into your 8th house it is important for you to seek professional counseling in order to know your emotional past, be supported by a caring, competent therapist and heal your early relationship with your mother. Then as transiting Saturn conjuncts your Ascendant in 2014, you will be able to begin a new, healthy chapter in your life. I am not so sure that your mother was jealous of you; it is more likely that she was projecting her pain, her history, her needs or rejections through you, her daughter – though this enmeshment is very damaging. It is most important that you know yourself, nurture yourself (Cancer’s real mission), and learn how to seek and feel you deserve healthy, caring relationships with others. When we have been shaped by real trauma through another, it is crucial to recognize that healing can best be accomplished through another, a therapist.

Ask the Oracle

Hi, I just wanted to say that I hear all this dark stuff about Pluto but, lucky for me, when it crossed my Ascendant around spring 2001, I was graduating from a challenging 2 year program in massage therapy. I felt really powerful to succeed and complete this achievement. So, what is the deeper meaning of Pluto? My birthday is July 9, 1974. (LGO)

The dark Pluto stuff is commonly experienced by many people yet your experience is the other, light side of Pluto. In either case, dark or light, the experiences and situations we face if we have an emphasized Pluto in our natal chart and a significant Pluto transit, will be our meeting with/confrontation with power. The evolutionary astrologers describe Pluto as “the evolutionary intent or necessity of the soul” in this incarnation. We humans naturally think the seemingly positive empowerment versus the tragic losses is either good or bad. I am not sure our souls make the same distinction in how we grow into greater awareness, deep surrender and acceptance of our life purpose. In both sets of circumstances the experiences, emotions, what we learn from them, and how they shape our beliefs is the arena of our evolution.

Of course, we will and should feel excited and proud when we achieve something worthy. Equally, we will and should feel sadness, loss, confusion and pain when difficult and tragic events occur. Yet, when we can also expand our awareness to observe and seek to mine either type of Pluto experience for its meaning, its message, where it is leading us and how we can grow from it, we are then beginning to understand Pluto’s role in our evolution. Admittedly, this is really hard when we are in pain, suffer terrible losses, and life seems to be grossly unfair. Pluto’s teachings are whatever will most force change, growth, awareness and movement toward our life purpose.

You were born with Pluto in Libra square your natal Mercury/Saturn conjunction, which is challenging; however, when transiting Pluto crossed your Ascendant, I believe you were attuned to its message and likely had been making choices that made your empowering success possible. As a Cancer you are sensitive and intuitive by nature. Your Sagittarius Ascendant, North Node and Neptune in Sagittarius in the 12th house (Pisces natural house) ruling your natal Moon/Jupiter conjunction in Pisces; and your natal Pluto in the 9th house, the natural realm of Sagittarius – reveal a sensitivity to Pluto’s guidance. You deserve great credit for developing and integrating that sensitivity well. However, the individual whose question is below is, I suspect, no less worthy but her lessons are quite different from yours emphasizing our individuality and our individual paths. There are many excellent books on the meaning of Pluto that are well worth studying; including psychological and mythological avenues to greater understanding.

My birth date is August 29, 1968. I have a stellium in Virgo in the 2nd house along with Cancer rising, Moon in Scorpio in the 3rd house. My main aspect pattern is a YOD with my Saturn the apex in Aries in the 9th house. My Saturn in Aries quincunxes my Virgo stellium which contains my Sun, Jupiter, Mercury, Pluto and Uranus. Whilst I have never felt life to be easy or “evident” (as far as how to do it), as the now single mum of a 2 year old girl from whose father I separated in the 8th week of pregnancy due to “family violence” issues, I really feel I’ve had the most challenging past 3 years.

I had no support from the father during the pregnancy, a serious pregnancy complication (despite being healthy and conscious about diet, supplements, yoga, etc.) and to top that I have ongoing issues with the father related to the shared care of my daughter ever since she was born. Despite all my efforts to be fair and reasonable, he came back into the picture when she was born trying to take control and ultimately taking me to court. Numerous court hearings later, I have been dealt court orders that are far from the “just solution” that I or my solicitor expected or hoped for. I feel I have been living a nightmare and now feel trapped and controlled by my ex who holds me under continuous threat of being taken to court should I slip up in the most insignificant ways. I love my daughter so much and want her to know her father but am concerned about his lack of child focus and selfish/controlling demands.

I am struggling financially, despite trying to supplement my pension with some yoga teaching and astrology work. I moved to be near family after my daughter was born to a small town which is a few hours from where I had been living with the father before the split. I feel lonely and a bit friendless here. I have had no interest in men throughout this time but I find it hard to accept a life as a single mother and feel sad for my daughter as a single mum who is quite alternative not quite fitting in. I’ve always been a bit on the outer but I just don’t know what I’m supposed to be, not that I have much choice now with these court orders I have to abide by. I keep thinking I want to write a book about all the unjust stuff I’ve seen in family court but I’m torn since my spiritual beliefs lead me to question focusing on those issues outside of me. The past hurts. There are not many people I feel I can talk to you and my budget is so tight that sometimes I don’t know where to get some other input into my situations and challenges. Any advice or insight would be sooooo welcome. Thank you. (KA)

Ouch, what a painful journey you have traveled these last years. Yes, you do have a massive stellium of planets in Virgo, intensifying and focusing your life experiences and purpose. That stellium includes both Uranus and Pluto in conjunction with your natal Mercury and Venus. In addition to those intense indicators, your Moon and Neptune are both in Scorpio (adding more Pluto intensity) with both squaring your natal Mars. Tough!

Some of the good news is that you were able to birth a healthy, much loved daughter at the age of 44 which is not possible for many, many women. Yet, as transiting Saturn moved into Libra, the archetype of love, marriage and partnership, you become involved with, abused by, pregnant with and separated from your partner experiencing the dark side of your natal Venus/Uranus/Pluto conjunction. Likely, your progressed Moon was opposing your natal Neptune in the 5th house of children at that time (the blessing of your pregnancy but also the loss and sadness of the circumstances); your progressed Venus was squaring your natal Mars (the ensuing violence and conflict); your progressed Mars was at the midpoint of your Sun/Jupiter conjunction. Transiting Saturn and Uranus were opposing one another in the sky as they both set off your natal Pluto/Mercury/Venus. Together, these progressions and transits describe the relationship, costs, hardships, and painful outcome with which you are and will be dealing with for some time to come. If you add up the timing and the natal stellium which involves your Venus, the planet of love and relationship, you see the unfolding destiny you are living.

Thankfully, and much to your credit you are a positive, healthy, spiritually oriented person who can, will and has to find her own, individual path through this briar patch. Being born into the mid 60’s Uranus/Pluto conjunction, which for you involves your personal planets, you are here to live an individual life following your own guidance, differences, intuition and finding trust in how the work you are here to do is and will unfold through each and every circumstance of your life. Not an easy life but a profound, important and meaningful one. Your daughter’s soul knew exactly what she was coming into and has the mum she needs and chose. Your 5th house Neptune reveals the spiritual closeness you have and always will have with your daughter as well as the sacrifices you will make for her. Your 2nd house Virgo stellium is at its core about your inherent nature, values and worth. Develop that and trust it, then you will find your Virgo “right work” as transiting Neptune begins its opposition to your many Virgo planets.

Remember that Saturn rules your 7th house of marriage and is in the 9th house of 2nd marriages which will lead you to a later partnership that will be strong and long. Not yet, but know it is ahead of you. Also, look more deeply into Neptune who will be your companion for the next decade when you will find your work, your successes, your true purpose and your financial path to self sufficiency. I agree that this is not the time to write about your court experiences until you have more distance and understanding which will heal you and guide you to knowing if that is your true work. Studying the Course in Miracles is a wise and supportive decision for you.

Ask the Oracle

I was born 2/15/64. Since 2007 I have lost nearly all my friends, some of my family, and the love of my life, all still alive. What happened? I’m not sure but I know I had Pluto square Venus. I was hoping things would pick up due to having some good planets being transited but nothing is happening. I have no job and I have no life. I don’t know what to do. The bad transit happened and affected me; why doesn’t the good one happen, too? Am I missing something? Hope you can help me. (SR)

Ouch, yes, you have had and still do have some quite difficult aspects which, certainly, could and have resulted in many losses leading to your currently painful reality. I don’t see the good aspects you referred to so it is not surprising that your situation has not turned around yet. It is not just that transiting Pluto squared your natal Venus, it is also that transiting Uranus conjoined your Venus and your natal Venus is quincunx your Uranus/Pluto conjunction. These current transits set off your difficult natal aspects to Venus making this time especially tough. Your natal Sun is conjunct Mars and Saturn squaring Neptune which is also difficult requiring you to confront any over idealization or unrealism you may have about life, yourself or others as you identify your true strengths.

First, I would suggest you look into the meaning of these natal aspects, since this is the time when the underlying issues, history, behavior patterns and energetic relationships between these planets (parts of yourself) are ripe for change and healing. A counselor who is also an astrologer would be ideal for this work. Secondly, you will have some good, helpful transits and progressions which can begin to improve your situation. In June, transiting Jupiter will conjunct your Ascendant, beginning a new 12 year cycle of opportunity, confidence and potential, including a possible relationship. Both your progressed Sun and your solar arc progressed Mars will conjunct your natal Jupiter, ruler of your 7th house of partners, in 2 to 3 years, likely leading to marriage by that time. If you focus on what you believe, the 9th house where your natal Mercury is being squared by transiting Saturn, I think you will find comfort, encouragement, greater awareness and hope in this spiritual pursuit.

During the next 3 months as your progressed Moon moves to conjunct your Lunar South Node in the 7th house, you can discover useful insights into your previous relationship patterns. This will help you attract different, stronger, more positive relationships in the future and enter them with a genuine personal strength and self assurance. Fortunately, your solar arc progressed Neptune has completed its recent square to your natal Venus and your progressed Mars will conjunct natal Venus in 1 to 2 years which also supports successes, happiness, caring relationships and some good fun.

Though major Pluto transits often leave us feeling at the bottom of our lives quite alone and without much hope, they are truly the moment when everything better becomes possible if we can find the faith, the wisdom and the patience to do our inner work and spiritual work which will open the doors to the new life that is already germinating. Don’t give up.

I just had my birthday (born 12/20/68) and I’m disheartened that a year has passed since I already realized I was sad, wanting to be a Mom and very single. I have explored various career paths and seem not to believe in myself enough to commit to my interests – and also feel my interests, especially creativity and art, don’t fit the mold of a marketable job. I believe everyone has gifts to share in this world but don’t seem to be able to really figure out a goal to pursue regarding mine. I feel I am at a crossroads, I started a part time job that interests me somewhat but it doesn’t pay that much and the hours are not guaranteed so I don’t know if I should continue. I’m unable to really move forward. I feel stuck. Loneliness/isolation is making it harder as along the way, in the town I moved to about 7 years ago, I stopped socializing with people who weren’t genuine friends…and others moved…or found partners and became distant. My town is smallish and the closest big city is a bit far to drive to all the time for a social life.

I resent that so many single friends I’ve known have stumbled upon their life partners/husbands without much effort. The men I meet and am attracted to are few and far between…and the last few, while expressing attraction to me, didn’t want to date me. The last one wasn’t romantically available. I just don’t know what to do. Am I in the right city? What career do I pick for fulfillment…and how do I find a partner? I feel alone and left out. I tried some counseling but it wasn’t effective and now I cannot afford it. I have had some financial help the last few months from family due to transitioning out of a job I hated but can’t continue. This help makes me feel less of an adult in their eyes. Is there any advice you can offer? My whole life I’ve felt a little different from others but now, it’s magnified. I need to cast a light on my future path so I can walk toward it. Many thanks for what you do. (SQ)

Witnessing your friends and others seeming to stumble into the life you deeply desire is naturally confusing and painful. It just doesn’t seem fair, as you say. “What about me?” However, each chart reflects a unique life and destiny with its own purpose, timing and gifts. In your case, the Moon rules your 7th house of partnership. Currently, transiting Pluto is conjunct your natal Moon, which is not just very difficult for attracting a healthy relationship but emotionally a time of feeling lost, stuck, alone, isolated, and bereft. Over the last few years transiting Pluto and Uranus have been setting off your natal Moon conjunct Mercury squaring Jupiter/Uranus, a disruptive time of change, confusion and being stuck when nothing seems to work.

Okay, that describes what you are experiencing. Now what? Transiting Saturn recently conjoined your Midheaven, which makes your current job more interesting despite its part time nature without guaranteed hours. I would suggest keeping it for now, seeing what you can learn, who you can meet and how you can use the time when you aren’t working to develop your own creative projects. With your Libra Midheaven, Venus – which is the planet of art and creativity – rules your career house. Trust that destiny. Yes, you can make a living in a creative field though the path will not be clearly laid out. You will need to trust your own natural and powerful vision, instincts, intuition and brilliance.

When you were born, the Sun, Mercury, and the Moon were conjunct your Ascendant, demonstrating your intelligence, insight, wisdom and good ideas that can interest and appeal to others. Transiting Pluto has recently conjoined your Ascendant, making this time one when you can and need to draw upon your own power. Yes, you are a bit different as all people are who were born with their natal Pluto in strong aspect to their Sun or Moon; you have a Sun/Pluto square. You will need to find the others who are also tuned to that Pluto channel, which is why you have moved away from friendships that were not genuine and why many men are intimidated by you. There are lots of other Pluto folks out there and you will meet them. I do think you will want to make another move when you find a place you want to move to and work or opportunity that is appealing. Your natal Mercury, which rules your 9th house of long distance travel, is recovering from its recent Uranus/Pluto conjunctions, suggesting that you are done with your current location yet where to move should and will arise naturally. Trust the life that is being born.
