With last month’s New Moon in Pisces, we completed a year’s round of embodiment-through each-sign with a focus on our feet. With the New Moon in Aries, we begin again. It’s the zodiacal new year. Since the Aries region of the body is head, brain, eyes, and face, we start our journey of embodiment at the top—the head.
Supported Forward Fold is a shape that acknowledges this transition, going forward in the cycle, from feet (Pisces) to head (Aries).
Find a wall that you can lean against with your backside. Bend your knees a bit and wiggle your feet a few inches forward so that your legs are at a slant from the wall.
At first, you might want to place your elbows on your thighs and hold your face/head in your hands. Focus on intentional breathing to bring your awareness to sensation throughout your whole head. Include your current thought process.
If your body welcomes it, you might rest your torso even further forward on your thighs. Take your hands to the back of your head. You could rub your scalp, or your neck, or just hold still and let out a few exhales.
Eventually, bring your hands behind you to the wall and slowly stand up.
Take in the next two weeks of waxing Moon energy with fresh eyes and tender attention to what your head needs to communicate to your heart.
