Dear Aphrodite, What do I need to do connect to my new soul city? I no longer wish to live in my current residence but I don’t feel a strong connection to any other location. I know my soul city will be the place with the greatest amount of connection, support and love. I want to prepare for this opportunity to the best of my ability. I know it’s a Venusian city! Please help. Thank you, Nora
Dear Nora, With Neptune currently transiting your fourth house, making a square to your fourth house ruler, and having recently completed an opposition to your Virgo Moon, no wonder you feel emotionally unmoored in this area of your life! Neptune has been stirring up divine discontent for an ideal home in your home sector as well as with the planet we associate with hearth, heart and home. It’s as if you know the soul city of your heart exists, but you wonder, is it even in the milky way, in this earthly dimension?
Your soul place may appear to elude you now, but it doesn’t have to. One of the secrets to working with the transiting planets is making them work for you, and to do that successfully you must speak their language. For instance, imagine the planets as a real estate agents. With Neptune as your agent, what would his approach be to finding you a home? Yes, he’d create murky restlessness, disconnection and disillusionment with your current situation because that’s his way of mobilizing the awareness that you are ready for a new vision for home… but that’s also his way of directing your attention toward your inner consciousness, because every new vision must happen first on the inner, energetic, invisible plane. To work with this, he’d ask you to do things like: pay attention to your dreams, fantasies, watch for omens, and listen to your heart.
You want Venus’ help in this manifestation endeavor, and this is where you can get specific and pull on your discernment. What do you love having in your environment? What do you, unequivocally, not love? Just as with the search for a soul mate, you need not know point on the map, but you must know your bliss point- that unique-to-you combination of ecstatic elements that you just know will curl your toes, make you happy. Are you an urban girl, or a nature lover? Do you enjoy tropical climates, or dry ones? Snow or sun? Make a list of the weather, culture, climate, values and people you want in your everyday. Then take it a step further. How would you feel here? What would life look like 10 years from now, here? Who would this place help you become? Write a letter to Venus, your preferences guiding you, and put it in a special place- like an altar, fancy envelope, or magical box to keep the energy alive (For more on manifesting using Venus, including a magical ritual you can do to amplify the power of this exercise, pick up a copy of my book A Love Alchemist’s Notebook: Magical Secrets For Drawing Your True Love Into Your Life).
Remember: energetic, invisible work precedes all manifestation. To attract your new home, Neptune asks you to expand your spiritual muscle, and Venus the law of attraction- your unique desires, joys, preferences. Let your imagination and intuition do the work. You don’t have to be clear, just ask to be guided to your new home. Then, be on the lookout for synchronicity, divine appearances of magic–like overhearing someone talking about a vacation destination you’d never heard of and getting a big “yes” in your gut. Or, a Rumi poem that jumps off the page, telling you more about the way you want to feel there.
One final word of advice. Just as we have more than one soul mate, I do believe we have more than one soul place. As with looking for a soul mate, if you get too hung up on finding “The One” you may never take a chance to explore what’s on offer. There are likely a handful of places that could work for you. Once you narrow down a few potential locations, you can contact an astrologer like me for an astro-mapping session. Just as with people, we each have unique synastry (planetary connections) with places, too!
