Ask the Oracle – August 6, 2013

By Julia Bondi

My life has taken a turn for the worse although I understand that it might be for the best eventually. In some ways it has fallen apart due to someone else lying and not telling the truth my word against theirs, they won. It could ruin some prospects that I had in mind and has left me feeling hurt and confused as what to do. I was born July 3, 1959. (CB)

Hurt and confusion are an appropriate emotional response to someone’s lying causing unfortunate consequences in your life though you wisely note that this may turn out to be for the best eventually and only “may” ruin some prospects which has yet to happen. Does your chart suggest any answers to why this turn for the worst has occurred and whether or not it will turn out for the worst or the best in the future? Fortunately, your chart clearly describes the difficulties you describe which are real, painful and not yet behind you. Born with your natal Moon at 3 degrees of Gemini in the 12th house tightly squaring Pluto we might expect a painful deceit resulting in the deceiver, not you, being believed. The 12th house is ruled by Neptune in the natural zodiac leading to confusing, unexpected losses and situations while your Pluto square ups the stakes in the relationship with the underhanded person winning the day. At least for now.

Currently, transiting Neptune has been opposing your natal Pluto as it also squares your natal Moon making now the time for this 12th house karma to unfold. It will be important for you to look carefully at who you have been involved with, who has believed them rather than you and what this loss has moved you away from. To know clearly from that examination, to release willingly and to forgive fully are crucial in order for you to see why that “best” will eventually be clear. Certainly, your Cancer Sun is sensitive, your four planets in Leo offended by this lack of honesty and integrity, however, your relationship with the archetype of Neptune (after all, you not only have a 12th house Neptune but your natal Neptune is quincunx your natal Moon square your natal Mercury) is calling you to become intuitive, awake and aware in important and necessary ways at this juncture in your life. The other piece in this shocking puzzle is the Uranus/Pluto square in the sky aspecting your 10 degree natal Sun by Pluto opposition and Uranus square. Thus, all three of the outer, transpersonal planets are in challenging aspects to your lights, the Sun and Moon, which is a profound time of initiation and opportunity painfully wrung from hurt and loss. Do let this all go and move into new opportunities with new people, develop more clear and conscious personal boundaries and trust that within a few months as your progressed Sun moves to conjunct your natal Pluto you will emerge from this dust up pleased with who you are and where you are going.

As a person some days ago told you: I love reading your articles each month. What I love most of all is that you can give people hope. I’m hoping you can give me a little. My birthday is May 18, 1950 born with 3 planets in the 12th house. Most of the time I have felt misunderstood and living in a world that I do not understand. Throughout my life I’ve been through many times of distress “not justified” externally. However when I had to face real problems, I have a large force to resolve them. Now my chart is very active in transits, among others, Uranus conjuncting Venus and Pluto squaring it. I feel very lost, distraught and without desire. My economy is low, little work (I am a therapist), and without objectives or clear ideas about what to do. I would be grateful if you could give me a little light at this moment which is so disturbing for me. Thank you for all the wonderful work that you do which helps not only the people who ask you, but, I’m sure, all of us who read it. Blessings. (IS)

I appreciate your kind words and recognition. As a person with several planets in fire, Mercury exactly opposite Jupiter and the South Node of the Moon in Sagittarius, I believe in hope. Looking at your Sun/Moon/Mercury in your 12th house, your Sun/Mercury square to Pluto, your Moon square Saturn and your Venus opposite Neptune, it is clear why you have felt misunderstood, have experienced seemingly random “distress” and live in a world that is not easy for you to understand. Let’s also notice that your Sun and Moon are conjunct, trine both Saturn and Mars; your Moon is trine Neptune sextile Pluto; and your Venus is trine Pluto— providing a balance to the more difficult aspects I enumerated in your chart. Life, money, relationships and communication have not been easy for you though I suspect you have learned a great deal more in this life than you may give yourself credit for.

Now for the hope in your life: transiting Jupiter is moving into your 2nd house of income for the next year, bringing in more money; transiting Saturn will move out of its quincunx to your Moon and square to Pluto by mid fall, easing the emotional disturbance you feel as it strengthens your earth planets solidifying your ideas and objectives; transiting Uranus will conjoin your 11th house Venus, bringing in new friends and contacts as well as creative possibilities; transiting Neptune is conjunct your Jupiter, initially lessening hope as sadness/discouragement/disappointment arise to be released but soon followed later this year or next year by career and personal opportunities which do resonate with your soul, ideas, needs and vision in a more exquisite way than you have experienced before; and transiting Pluto is beginning a number of powerful aspects for the next few years. Pluto means to transform your life yet requires you to dig deep into your shadow, unconscious, self-disempowerment, and sabotage for a healing which will both become what you do and how you rebirth your life. You are meant to provide deep, transformative, powerful journeys for your clients as and after you fully enter this one of your own. I do not disregard or minimize the reality of your 4th house Saturn square your 12th house Moon nor your 12th house Sun/Mercury squaring Pluto losses and suffering— but I do know this is a time for a layer of healing that will activate your life in ways you have not yet seen and will welcome. More importantly, you have earned these opportunities. As you said you have the force, the resolve, the character to do the work your soul is calling you to do.

Astrologers use a variety of house systems, or methods of dividing up the sky into twelve sections. I use the Porphyry house system; another popular house system is Placidus (this is the default on https://astro.com). If the chart I send you looks different from what you are used to seeing, then likely a system other than Porphyry was used. Whole signs, Equal House, Regiomantus, and Campanus are examples of other systems. If you find all of this confusing, do not worry. It is likely not critical to your report.

m  Conjunction:  Like peas in a pod, planets in conjunction tend to come from the same place. They act together, but it’s also hard to tell them apart. This aspect can increase talent, focus, and intensity (“two are better than one”). Or one planet can disappear as the other dominates. Their connection feels so natural, it’s easy to think everyone blends these planetary energies just as you do—but mostly, they don’t!.

p  Sextile:  Planets in sextile are compatible, though without any fireworks. This aspect doesn’t demand your attention. It quietly presents an opportunity. You can join these archetypal forces. Donna Cunningham has called this the “Oh, that!” aspect, because that’s generally what her clients say when she describes their benefits.  To get the most from sextiles you need to actively work them.

q  Square:  Squares are wild and wonderful—but difficult too. The power struggle between these planets was likely defined in your youth, when they were impossibly challenging. People are usually aware of their squares. They force the issues that make you to grow. And that’s their gift. They ensure you learn your lessons. When you rise to the occasion, they bless you with energy, action, and success.

r  Trine:  Michael Munkasey has dubbed this the “goddess aspect” because it’s so lovely. Identifying talents you may have perfected in a previous life, trines can bring you joy. There’s a nice flow of energy between planets in trine. They support and reinforce each another. But without any struggle, you might take them for granted—neither using nor developing their gifts. An unattended trine can sometimes trick you into negative behaviors.

t  Inconjunct/Quincunx:  Your quincunx planets are innately incompatible. Bringing them into harmonious expression requires constant adjustments. This can be stressful, also motivating. You’ve got to keep changing your process, opinions or attitude—which promotes highly creative solutions.

u  Opposition:  They say opposites attract—and planets in opposition are never far from each other, though they’re constantly bickering. You may be triggered into awareness of this aspect by other people who seem to resist or undermine you.  An opposition can make you feel uncertain, insecure, or discontent, until you can accept and see yourself in both energies. Typically people find it easier to identify with one side and project the other onto unsuspecting others in the outer world.
