New Moon Empowerment Spell: Let’s Unturn the Overturning

By Dana Gerhardt

We cast new moon spells for increase. As women and wombs are key Cancer concerns, we cast this Cancer new moon spell to increase Women’s Power, personal & collective.  Women can and will restore the womb rights the Supreme Court has just erased.

For this spell, you’ll need a basin large enough for your feet, 2 cups of milk (or a milk substitute; water is fine), and a small towel.

Read through the spell once or twice.  New moon spells are best performed when the new moon is in the sky above—so that means from within an hour or so after sunrise until an hour or so after sunset.

Begin—when ready—by imagining a beautiful three-dimensional circle, drawn with an invisible hand, three feet above, below, all around you.  Say:

I enter this zone of non-distraction
To ready myself for spiritual action.
Great Goddess Moon, who steadied the Earth
For billions of years, weaving the tides
Where life first appeared, you rule the womb,
Not them. Hear me as I seethe and burn.
Fill me with the power to unturn
The Extreme Court folly that fouls your
Goddess land of milk & honey.

Six in black robes have overturned Roe,
Stealing our rights away.
“Here Pre-Borns are protected,” they say.
“Until you’re born—then be warned—
You’re on your own.
Violence is encouraged here.
Guns have more rights than people.
We’ll divide this land because we can.
Controlling women isn’t evil.”

Now pour the milk into your basin, as you say:

Mother Moon, embolden me, even if
I’m sad, I’m scared, I’m angry. I know
Your kind & loving nectar
Will fill me and my sisters
With fierce, formidable power.

Settle your feet into the basin of milk. Recite the following at least three times while washing hands and feet with the Great Mother’s milk.

Oh, Great Goddess,
Empower my feet
Empower my hands
Don’t let us stop
Till we change this land.

(We’ll seal the spell with a potent gesture of self-soothing. You can dry your hands and feet first or wait till the circle is closed.)

Bring your hands up to your face and with eyes closed, drop your head into your hands’ soothing, supportive embrace. Relax. Feel the energy of your hands pouring into your face. Imagine this is the Goddess’ nectar, filling you with power from head to toe. Visualize or sense this. Once you feel capable and strong, open your eyes and say:

Protecting women is right and true.
I’m fierce & formidable thanks to you,
Great Mother, who since the beginning of time,
Has kept this spinning Earth in line.
Sealed in the love between you and me,
I cast this spell. So shall it be.

Dissolve your three-dimensional circle.

Vote for representatives who will enact the laws that can protect women’s reproductive rights from the dark hands of courts & state legislatures.

You can cast this spell solo or in community.  You can use real ingredients or imagined ones. If you’re an activist, I recommend repeating this spell at every new moon.

Dana, thank you for your instruction, for women everywhere. I’m 35 years old and I’m an 11th house cancer moon. I just came to the realization that my profection year is in the twelfth house ruled by the moon. My birth moon phase is first quarter. My Pisces sun is in the 8th house. I’m also a Leo rising, born on a Sunday, Mar 8th, International Women’s Day.

Reflecting back to my previous two cycles, I remember l began menarche age 11. At 23 or so l had my abortion. Twelve years later l witnessed that the treatment l was privileged to receive has been taken away, virtually overnight in America. I am very concerned for all my sisters of child bearing age. Once she becomes pregnant, she becomes a ward of the state and as such, subject to its whims. I view this as human bondage, a violation of human rights. At that point women are less than human. A group of racist white men who failed to stay segregation co-opted the anti abortion movement in their bid for more political power; it worked, and now women and children are their victims caught in their crosshairs of misogyny, toxic masculinity, machismo, and disinfo.

I have a unique perspective on things regarding gender. After I embraced and cultivated my androgynous Contralto singing voice l became whole again, an undescribable feeling of wellness and satisfaction.

I daresay everyone has masculine and feminine energies within and this is something all members of society have to come to terms with. On a spiritual level, it is the imbalance of these energies that are problematic. And I would suggest something needs to be done about it. This distortion of masculinity is extremely harmful and insidious whereas the feminine part of the equation deserves empower so we can restore society back to equilibrium. Similarly, on a personal level, men benefit from the embrace of their feminine side. conversely women should embrace their masculine side for we simply cannot do with just one without the other.

When I worked with pregnant horses I was in awe it how sacred the energy around them and felt. I was not even into spirituality at that point. Does the Goddess not have her power in being able to bear a child and give birth to life? And is there a ritual for the babies that are born and then killed with their body parts being cut out ans sold?

Thank you, Dana, for this blessing, prayer, spell, empowerment. It helps me believe that overturning is possible.
I agree about the valley of division that runs deep in this country, in many countries, in the world. May clear, compassionate listening and speaking become the new normal.

    Dana, Thank You!

Are Much Needed in This Time That would Take Away Our Constitutional Protective Rights As Woman (as Voters, as minorities who are no longer minorities) ~ and It Will Not Stop Here.
Many , in this ultra conservative movement ~ as we know , feel birth control is ‘abortion’. And After what Thomas said (completely unacceptable) we all should be worried, not only for woman’s rights, hungry children, the poor, any babe born, but for any progress made for the LGBTQ community, and many more communities black and brown. As this country becomes less white, less 1950’s, fear and hatred has raised it’s ugly head and spewed it’s venom upon the citizens and this country. Guns. Guns have more rights than Woman! No. No. NO! Our children, our grandchildren, All Life Require More From Us Then That! They require nurturance, sustenance, they require A Future.. A sustainable Future. Without Regard for the Sacred Feminine, there is No Regard For Woman! for children, or This Sacred Holy Mother Earth, so sweet and giving. And as we disregard Her, all of Her Children, it is Reflective Upon Us All..
What We Need Is Healing, What We Need Is ~

I am surprised that you think all of your followers want this ruling overturned! Seems at cross purposes to me as Cancer, the moon, women, fertility have had prayers answered. Not everyone is angry. Its in the hands of the states, as it should be, read the ruling.

I didn’t write this spell because I think all of my followers want this ruling overturned. Renell, the country is deeply divided. This is the reality we’re living in. I don’t think I’m going to be able to please everybody. But I do feel passionate about the moon, magic, and women’s rights. I wrote this spell for all the heartbroken friends and clients who have emailed me in the past couple days..

Astrologers use a variety of house systems, or methods of dividing up the sky into twelve sections. I use the Porphyry house system; another popular house system is Placidus (this is the default on https://astro.com). If the chart I send you looks different from what you are used to seeing, then likely a system other than Porphyry was used. Whole signs, Equal House, Regiomantus, and Campanus are examples of other systems. If you find all of this confusing, do not worry. It is likely not critical to your report.

m  Conjunction:  Like peas in a pod, planets in conjunction tend to come from the same place. They act together, but it’s also hard to tell them apart. This aspect can increase talent, focus, and intensity (“two are better than one”). Or one planet can disappear as the other dominates. Their connection feels so natural, it’s easy to think everyone blends these planetary energies just as you do—but mostly, they don’t!.

p  Sextile:  Planets in sextile are compatible, though without any fireworks. This aspect doesn’t demand your attention. It quietly presents an opportunity. You can join these archetypal forces. Donna Cunningham has called this the “Oh, that!” aspect, because that’s generally what her clients say when she describes their benefits.  To get the most from sextiles you need to actively work them.

q  Square:  Squares are wild and wonderful—but difficult too. The power struggle between these planets was likely defined in your youth, when they were impossibly challenging. People are usually aware of their squares. They force the issues that make you to grow. And that’s their gift. They ensure you learn your lessons. When you rise to the occasion, they bless you with energy, action, and success.

r  Trine:  Michael Munkasey has dubbed this the “goddess aspect” because it’s so lovely. Identifying talents you may have perfected in a previous life, trines can bring you joy. There’s a nice flow of energy between planets in trine. They support and reinforce each another. But without any struggle, you might take them for granted—neither using nor developing their gifts. An unattended trine can sometimes trick you into negative behaviors.

t  Inconjunct/Quincunx:  Your quincunx planets are innately incompatible. Bringing them into harmonious expression requires constant adjustments. This can be stressful, also motivating. You’ve got to keep changing your process, opinions or attitude—which promotes highly creative solutions.

u  Opposition:  They say opposites attract—and planets in opposition are never far from each other, though they’re constantly bickering. You may be triggered into awareness of this aspect by other people who seem to resist or undermine you.  An opposition can make you feel uncertain, insecure, or discontent, until you can accept and see yourself in both energies. Typically people find it easier to identify with one side and project the other onto unsuspecting others in the outer world.
