The time of the Dark Moon is upon us once again. Prior to this New Moon in Sagittarius the influence of Scorpio brings us back into the depths. As the energy of the Earth Mother settles down for Her winter sleep so we can settle into stillness and leave the noise, distraction and activity of the everyday world behind for a while. This is the dark time of year and I invite you once more to take a journey into the depths of your psyche because within those depths lies a hidden treasure.
In stillness, we first come face to face with anything we may have been holding down or avoiding. Thoughts and feelings from the past we have yet to let go of or anticipation about an uncertain future. Fear is often the underlying energy that keeps us from being still and quiet. The only way to truly rest in stillness is to accept whatever we carry within. Not trying to fix any of it, to get rid of it, not to judge it but to simply hold it in the light of awareness. In so doing we become unmovable just as the Buddha was as he sat under the Bodhi tree and faced the legions of Mara. Once inner pain has been illuminated an opportunity is available to us.
As the moon moves from watery Scorpio to fiery Sagittarius and we enter a new lunation cycle we can begin to burn off all that we have dredged up in the last moon cycle with its intensity and eclipses. All that is not truly You can be surrendered to the fire of truth, the truth of our innermost being. The light of awareness is like a bright flame that sees through and accepts all that it beholds. To surrender means that we must be willing to let go of that which no longer serves us. Clinging to feelings of victimization, relationships that no longer work, stories of the past and our comfort zones prevent us from surrendering to who and what we truly are. Ultimately our very identity must be surrendered if we are to encounter the Self and allow life to be the free flowing experience it can be.
If we are willing to confront and accept what lies below and really surrender, the gateway is opened into something incredibly vast and profound. The ever-present illumination of our true being permeates inner stillness and silence; this is the often forgotten truth of who and what we really are. The changeless presence that witnesses all the comings and goings of mind and circumstance. This is the ultimate renewal. In this place all questions are dissolved and all confusion clarified. The knowing that comes from deep wordless wisdom is available and far surpasses the limits of the mind’s knowledge. From here we intuitively know precisely what we need to do without needing to figure it out. Action arises naturally from the heart, which guides our existence as it does for all sentient beings, if we only allow it to. We then enter the new lunar cycle renewed and refreshed with clarity and peace of mind ready to flow with life into the exciting reaches of the unknown.
