Venus and the Sun are conjunct today (March 25). Male astrologers throughout the ages have concluded that this condition disadvantages Venus. A Sun/Venus conjunction in someone’s birth chart suggests that Venus is “combust”–which means she disappears, is overpowered, or burned up by the intense light of the Sun. Yet I’ve met enough people born with this conjunction to know this isn’t always true. Although Venus is in the underworld, she has powers. She knows how to charm and captivate the Sun. People born with this conjunction are often quite luminous and charming.
Venus is retrograde in Aries–which makes her especially powerful now. She’s remaking herself, renewing personal, political and artistic expressions of the Divine Feminine. She’s preparing herself (and us) for a new feminine cycle. Emerging as the Morning Star in about a week (depending on your horizon line), in the sign of the warrior, she’ll be strong, audacious, impetuous, and fearless.
In any hundred year period, Venus retrogrades in only five signs, and in our time, Aries is one of them. Clearly our age is meant for empowering the feminine with the warrior’s spirit! For clues about your own experience, keep an eye on these three areas of your chart: the house and sign of your natal Venus, the house (or houses) where Venus is transiting (between 13 Aries and 27 Pisces). You might also contemplate eight, sixteen, and twenty-four years ago. These were the previous years Venus that was retrograde here: March 27, 2009; March 29, 2001; April 1, 1993. If these were important times–what about your feminine expression was changing then? You may find similar threads running through those periods and the present.
At the least, it’s an auspicious time to make the Divine Feminine the center of your attention. In the eyes of your imagination, see the Sun watching too, transfixed. With Sun, Venus, and Moon conjunct at this New Moon, we have an exquisite opportunity to harmonize our inner masculine and feminine selves. We can become more whole. This week I’ve found myself at odd moments raising my arms like a dancer and undulating with my body’s curves. How has Venus woven herself into your life? You could be the one dancing. Or the one who’s watching the dance. Either way, let yourself be filled with the radiance of this moment. Study your chart to find the connections. These are the symbols that can decode this time for you. Let yourself be transfixed and transformed.
