Motto for Sun-in-Aquarius:
“It’s better to be a round peg in a square hole
than a snug-fitting square peg.”
As the Sun enters Aquarius you may notice a divine discontent begins brewing inside. Every 30 days, the Sun sets a new agenda. In Capricorn, the Sun asked you to stake out your “square”—to secure your place in the social structure. This season you might notice the ways in which this role doesn’t quite fit. A bright new truth may be stirring in your heart.
Your unique point of view is what counts now–from January 19 through February 18. There may be something only you can see–something undesirable or obsolete in your world of sharp corners. Aquarius may increase your sensitivity to the stimulating and aggravating realm of the collective—whatever tribe you currently embrace or oppose. Your inner genius may want to revolutionize this status quo. Take such thoughts seriously. Don’t worry too much about what others will think: innovation is rarely consensual. If the Sun stopped at Capricorn, we’d be all duty but no progress.
For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, this is the second month of winter—when our bodies are traditionally less active than our minds. This is the right time to do the visioning for your future–an activity we share with much plant life that is below the ground now, dreaming of the coming leap of spring.
Other signs of Aquarius are lightening bolts and rain—nature’s cues for cleansing and awakening our senses. The rain pouring from the heavens may actually come for you this month as a flood of new awareness. The energy of Aquarius is unconventional, broadminded and progressive. Dance in circles or kick through puddles with it. Sing out loud with irrational joy. In the silence of winter’s second month, boredom is the only sin.
And remember, being round serves an important purpose in an often square world. The Sun is round. The Moon is round. So are cartwheels, chocolate chip cookies, and the rounded genius of you being you.
The transits of the Sun are usually overlooked by astrologers. But if you wish to synchronize with natural time, they are very important. Notice which house(s) in your chart the Sun is transiting.
