The Cancer New Moon beckons you to reach deep. It’s time for nourishment and flow. To feel fully replenished, you will need to confront the walls you’ve created for safety. Feeling protected, being in control, and manipulating matters to ease life’s pain seem like reasonable strategies.
After all, you’re a sensitive person. But too much self-protection has a way of backfiring. The Crab who symbolizes this sign says you can unwittingly get too tightly armored. Tight walls are real, and they can hurt you. Obstacles like fear, doubt, and guilt can often leave you feeling wrung out, not living the life you want. If this rings true, the Cancer New Moon is made just for you. Love is waiting…love for yourself and for others. Cancer is the cycle to honor your safety, while gently venturing into deeper intimacy with yourself.
Embodying this new moon’s magic begins with the willingness to safely let down your guard and give yourself some love. What a sweet and simple way to celebrate summer’s first new moon!
First Gesture: Rooting
To begin (sitting down or standing up), cross your arms over your chest and your heart, lift your shoulders towards your ears. Breathe in and out keeping your shoulders lifted and holding your arms tightly.
On the next breath, deepen into the tension in your body including your jaw, shoulders, and hips. How do you feel? Do you feel safe? Protected? Guarded?
On your next exhale, gently drop your shoulders (arms still crossed) and consciously relax your hips. Bring your awareness to your thighs, knees, calves, shins, ankles and feet. Imagine your breath leaving through the bottom of your feet and rooting down into the earth.
On the next inhale, breathe in and fill your belly feeling just the pressure of your arms crossed. How do you feel now? What are you noticing as your body aligns vertically with the earth.
Second Gesture: Rocking
On your next exhale, relax your arms to your sides. Take another breath and open your jaw, drop your shoulders, relax your hips and drop your attention into the depths of your belly and begin just the slightest rocking forward and back slowly with awareness.
How does it feel to move? How does it feel to have your arms away from your heart?
Rocking awakens an ancient memory of being held inside the great flows of the ocean—and more recently, the oceanic fluids of your womb space. Womb and sea are the earliest temples for the divine feminine energy that wants to awaken in you now. Drop in and gently rock yourself into a deeper, more vulnerable awareness of yourself.
Third Gesture: Hugging
Finally, breathe gently into your belly and bring one hand to your heart. Just touch your heart and say to yourself, “I’m here, right here.” Continue the gentle, slow forward and backward rocking for a little bit longer.
When you feel complete, stop and literally hug yourself. Receive your hug. No longer a sensitive trapped inside a shell, but a fully embodied being,
You and your tender heart are filled with a new sense of your wisdom, intuition and emotional depths. Embodied. Ready now to greet the new cycle. Be alert to Cancer themes. Honor your home, honor your family, honor your food, honor your being and your profound connection to life.
