You can’t miss it—this Moon is bright, almost full. The Gibbous Moon rises in the east mid to late afternoon. You can see it clearly, even before the Sun goes down. It will set around three in the morning.

From Dana Gerhardt’s Moon Workshop
If your actions to this point have been instinctive and intuitive… analysis can take you further now. The energy is rising at this phase. It’s like that moment in birthing called “transition.” When the pregnant mother is nearly fully dilated, exhausted, in pain, ready to kill her husband for what he started. If she could just get up and forget the whole thing, she would. If your labors this moon cycle have been pushing to a conclusion, you might find yourself in a similar moment now. Everything might fall apart right at the end. This is the Gibbous transition. To put it in Moon terms: “Hold on, don’t give up, your baby will come when the moon is full. Gibbous means “almost full.” It says “not just yet.” You may need to wait. Or recognize that whatever is difficult now is also rich and appropriate feedback. There’s an opportunity to fine-tune and make whatever you’re working on better, stronger. If you can, peel the emotion away from the matter and give it over to your analytical mind. Ingenuity is favored. Remain calm. Let your Will collect in your belly. Be ready when the illumination comes.
This Moon’s gift is Perseverance.
There are times in every month when you lose steam—maybe you reach a road block, maybe you’re bored, having lost your New Moon enthusiasm. But the Moon’s energy is building towards fullness. If you renew your determination, this period may bring new insights or force a new strategy. Keep your momentum in a waxing mode!
Its foundation element is Fire.
Fire nourishes your visionary spirit and your confidence. It draws you towards bright futures. Play (carefully!) with fire: Burn candles, sit in the sun, eat hot, spicy foods. Feel the energy of the moon reaching fullness now. Feel it as a fire in your body.
What do you most need to learn this phase?
Emotions bring energy, but they can also bog you down. You’re learning to release your feelings in the Gibbous phase, creating the space for your Full Moon transcendence. Especially if things get difficult, practice the alchemy of detachment.
Are you touching the Moon? It’s one thing to read about the Moon, but another to tune into her with energetic sensitivity. The first method is mental; the second is sensuous and intuitive (which is of course the preferred way to grasp the Moon). Dana’s Moon Workshop can support you in developing an exciting, organic relationship with the Moon.
