Ask the Oracle – August 10, 2014

By Julia Bondi

I wonder if you could shed any light on my current planetary situation. In my last job I was miserable and repressed. It was a very corporate big city office. There was always a new humiliation or soulless exchange involved at work. After 3 years, I took a wonderful vacation to Colorado to see friends followed by a week solo to complete a scuba diving course in Mexico. It was so rejuvenating. I felt like a new woman. The day I returned to work there was a massive layoff. So ironic. In the past, my jobs were always just a bit off; jobs in which I was always treated as 2nd best or not as special. I have loved working with kids but a tyrant was always present. Like when I was a child, caregivers were major tyrants leaving me always terrified. Right now, I am depressed, anxious and so scared to make the wrong move with my career again. I have the capacity to act with joy, presence, and great love for the development of others. I have Leo rising but I feel so tethered to a negative pattern. I would love your advice. Please help. My birthday is April 5, 1974.

Yes, you do have Leo rising highlighting your desire/need to feel special and important in your life and purpose which is the foundation for success in your life and work. When you mention your love of working with kids, it is clear that you are attuned to your natal north node of the Moon and Neptune in your 5th house of joy, creativity and children. Your natal Sun in the 9th house insists that you discover and follow your purpose in this life which is not a corporate career as you clearly felt at your recent job. While most of us feel rejuvenated on vacation with time to rest, to do what we love and to explore the world, you with your 9th house Sun would especially feel refreshed and more yourself when you travel, study, or pursue your passions. With Venus ruling your 10th house of career, you are here to do what you love and must do what you love in order to feel special internally which will allow you find your right work and succeed at your career. Six of your 10 ten traditional planets are in air signs forming a grand trine in air; a dominant indicator that you are extremely intelligent, must be stimulated by what you do and would be an extraordinary teacher and/or communicator in a field you believe in. The fear and anxiety you feel regarding your career is understandable as transiting Uranus is conjuncting your natal Sun this year and into 2015 making this a time of restlessness, unexpected change as you found when you returned to a massive layoff, and the possibility of a radically new direction leading to a much more aligned life. You have had some, not to be repeated, very difficult aspects over the last 6 or so years which would contribute to feeling that nothing is working or ever will yet you have grown, changed and matured more than you likely know. Now it is time to move in a new direction, to start a job that will pay your bills and either begin to train you for the career you really want or leave you enough time and energy to pursue that development on your own time. In 3 years, your progressed Venus, the ruler of your career house, will conjunct your natal Sun in your 9th house, a time when your purpose and your career will be aligned and succeeding. By next spring/summer transiting Jupiter will oppose your natal Venus offering you the ideal job for now or a promotion in the job you find soon. It is important to seek some therapy or healing work to free you from the negative pattern you accurately describe as continuing the role of the tyrant from your childhood to your current bosses leaving you feeling diminished and unappreciated. After both Uranus and Pluto have transited your natal Moon conjunct Pluto in the last few years, you are now ready to release this old, negative pattern though you will likely need some professional help to heal fully. Uranus is opening the door to freedom, internally and externally leading to a new job/career as transiting Pluto enters your 6th house, more success over the next couple of years and likely a relationship in the next several years as transiting Saturn opposes your natal Saturn, ruler of your 7th house of partnership. Life will get better.

I was born February 12, 1961. I am feeling desperate these days. It seems like everything is on a delay for me! I quit my job as a nurse in December to paint and get back in touch with myself while living off my small retirement funds. I did rest and I do think it was the right thing to do although I felt much judged about it. I feel that for most of my adult life I have struggled in the work arena. Many times in my life, I have reinvented myself and taken risks. Many times I have been on the edge of financial ruin as a result of this. I have forgone many stable relationships for marriage because I was always thinking about some career plan I had. So, I find myself alone, broke and desperate now. Plus, right now it seems I am thinking about old age a lot and feeling like my explorations of self and the world might have been meaningless. I am afraid and at the same time with so much faith that things will work out. It sounds crazy…but I believe that I still will be successful in an artistic field – writing, painting, music. While I am saying that I am waiting to hear this week about a nursing job that would be about good service.

Desperate is often the feeling preceding a significant transit by a transpersonal planet. In your case, transiting Pluto will conjunct your natal Moon in 2015 and transiting Neptune will conjunct your natal Mercury and oppose your natal Pluto in 2015. In addition to those powerful, life altering aspects, transiting Neptune is currently conjunct your south node of the Moon opposing your north node of the Moon. The desperation you feel is partly the motivation to make the significant changes that are necessary for you to live the life you imagine, the one that allows you to fulfill your potential. Let’s start with your experience of everything in your life seeming to be delayed especially the ongoing struggle in your work/career. You were born with a very strong Saturn – 3 planets, Moon, Jupiter, and Saturn, in Capricorn ruled by Saturn – in Capricorn in the 10th house of career. Saturn is often described as the force that delays but does not deny; in other words, the delays that have haunted your career have been the fertile ground for your maturation which will be the foundation for the career success you will achieve in mid-life. With 7 of the 10 traditional planets in solar hemisphere of your chart, you have been right to focus on your career rather than a stable relationship that might not have supported your eventual success. Though you are certainly quite capable in your work as anyone with a strong Saturn would be, your heart calls you to your Pluto in your 5th house of creativity, the house of the artist. Not only is your Pluto in your 5th house, it is joined by your north node of the Moon and your natal Uranus enhancing your sense of calling to create something resonant with the power of your soul. Pluto moving to your Moon, one’s emotional nature and needs, is naturally intensifying your awareness that time is passing, you are getting older, and it is time to do whatever is necessary to fulfill your dreams. Though it is hard to maintain faith in the face of little success, as an Aquarian you simply cannot live a normal, mundane life. Your Sun in Aquarius opposing its ruler, Uranus; your Mercury, your ideas and beliefs, opposing your Pluto; and, your Venus, your inner artist, quincunx your Neptune and Pluto, all reveals your soul’s insistence that you become the person you know you can be regardless of what anyone else thinks or advises; that you must follow your dreams; and, that you must create your art. Of course, this is not easy, it takes time and it comes with a cost; however, it does pay off if you remain committed. Right now you do need a job in order to survive and you need to continue your awakening and your art which is going to be ever more inspired over the next 2 years as Neptune reaches your Mercury/Pluto next year leading to the beginnings of a lasting success in 2016 when transiting Pluto reaches your Midheaven. Don’t give up, your direction is true.

m  Conjunction:  Like peas in a pod, planets in conjunction tend to come from the same place. They act together, but it’s also hard to tell them apart. This aspect can increase talent, focus, and intensity (“two are better than one”). Or one planet can disappear as the other dominates. Their connection feels so natural, it’s easy to think everyone blends these planetary energies just as you do—but mostly, they don’t!.

p  Sextile:  Planets in sextile are compatible, though without any fireworks. This aspect doesn’t demand your attention. It quietly presents an opportunity. You can join these archetypal forces. Donna Cunningham has called this the “Oh, that!” aspect, because that’s generally what her clients say when she describes their benefits.  To get the most from sextiles you need to actively work them.

q  Square:  Squares are wild and wonderful—but difficult too. The power struggle between these planets was likely defined in your youth, when they were impossibly challenging. People are usually aware of their squares. They force the issues that make you to grow. And that’s their gift. They ensure you learn your lessons. When you rise to the occasion, they bless you with energy, action, and success.

r  Trine:  Michael Munkasey has dubbed this the “goddess aspect” because it’s so lovely. Identifying talents you may have perfected in a previous life, trines can bring you joy. There’s a nice flow of energy between planets in trine. They support and reinforce each another. But without any struggle, you might take them for granted—neither using nor developing their gifts. An unattended trine can sometimes trick you into negative behaviors.

t  Inconjunct/Quincunx:  Your quincunx planets are innately incompatible. Bringing them into harmonious expression requires constant adjustments. This can be stressful, also motivating. You’ve got to keep changing your process, opinions or attitude—which promotes highly creative solutions.

u  Opposition:  They say opposites attract—and planets in opposition are never far from each other, though they’re constantly bickering. You may be triggered into awareness of this aspect by other people who seem to resist or undermine you.  An opposition can make you feel uncertain, insecure, or discontent, until you can accept and see yourself in both energies. Typically people find it easier to identify with one side and project the other onto unsuspecting others in the outer world.
