From the “Moon Lovers” series
by Dana Gerhardt
Every wall of the room is filled with floor-to-ceiling shelves, neatly filled with boxes, bottles and vials, meticulously labeled and organized around the ailments they’re meant to treat. “I had one client with digestion problems and she was inevitably doubled over in pain on Virgo Moon days.” Our moon lover is a healer. Speaking with her back to you, she searches for the vial that will meet your needs this moon. “It’s not that the Virgo Moon made her feel bad. Not at all. But we must take care to learn the rules. Every moon sign rules a part of the body and on those days, whatever we do to heal and strengthen that part of the body will be doubly beneficial. Likewise, whatever we do to burden that body part will be doubly harmful. ” She shook her head. “That poor girl had sensitive intestines, which Virgo rules. Yet she insisted on eating spicy foods, so of course, she was in pain. Ah, here it is!” She hands you a vial. “Put three drops of this tincture into a cup of nettles tea; you’ll feel marvelous by the Libra moon. Also remember it’s unwise to launch new creative ventures during Virgo’s moontime. It is, however, superb for minding the details of daily life. Take the most efficient and reverent approach to whatever business you have. Steady your impatience. Serve life, but make sure you withdraw a little too. You’ll greet the Libra Moon feeling receptive and refreshed!”

More Virgo Strategies
by Simone Butler
Your mind and senses will be keener than usual when the Moon travels through precise, detail-oriented Virgo. This should help with work projects. You’ll be able to see and communicate the fine points clearly, so it’s a great time to write or edit a paper, have important meetings, thoroughly clean the house, do strength training or anything else that requires intensive focus. Putting your bare feet on the Earth will help keep you centered. For more lunar wisdom, see Simone’s book, Moon Power: Lunar Rituals for Connecting with your Inner Goddess.
Are you touching the Moon?
It’s one thing to read about the Moon, but another to tune into her with energetic sensitivity. The first method is mental; the second is sensuous and intuitive (which is of course the preferred way to grasp the Moon). Lunar intuition is a natural ability that can be developed with practice. Developing mine, I was inspired by a friend’s report of spending an idyllic summer in the forest. Nestled in nature, without the chaos of the competing mechanical rhythms, her sensitivity became so refined, she felt it whenever the Moon changed signs.
Nature is everywhere. Even in our concrete and cyber jungles, we can sense her influence. At least once with the Moon in this sign, give yourself a 15-minute luxury of stillness. Quiet your thoughts. Observe the energy—how are things moving? Tune into the texture of the atmosphere floating around you. Feel its sensation on your skin. Describe what you feel, even if it’s so subtle you think you’re making it up. Over time your sensitivity and discernment will increase. In a month, you sense this sign again.
An earth sign Moon, key qualities for Virgo are cold and dry. Think of cool stone. Train your senses on density, solidity, immobility. Your eyes may instinctively land on heavier objects, or be drawn downward, scanning the earth rather than the sky. Appreciate the cool stillness in the air. At least once during this Moon, touch the earth– lie on the ground and absorb its energy. Notice how your mood may be following the day’s sensations. Earth Moons can bring melancholy or inertia—or ground you, promoting a solid, practical approach. How does it feel to you?
“Since organization is key when the Virgo Moon appears, use it to clear away clutter and discard the old and useless; this includes not only material possessions, but worn-out ideas. Then devise new systems for handling everything in life more efficiently. This is a good time to schedule surgeries, both major and minor. Other good bets for this energy might include the signing of contracts, financial planning, service-oriented efforts like volunteer work, and future plans that involve a committed relationship.” ~ Dorothy Morrison
