Ask the Oracle – April 28, 2010

By Julia Bondi

My question has to do with my career or lack of it. My birthday is 9/7/66. I guess in many ways I am a “wounded healer”, having survived a pretty awful childhood replete with bullying, rejection, abuse, etc. I studied journalism and later got a graduate degree in psychology, working in social services for about 10 years before burning out completely. Many of my bosses mirrored my abusive parents and there have been many false starts in my life. I have worked as a counselor, newspaper reporter, pet groomer, figure model at an art guild, freelance writer and currently am considering closing a faltering alternative healing business. I feel guilty about not being happier. Growing up I had dreams of having my own dogs and a stable loving partner. I had a list of requisite qualities, mostly spiritual, that I wanted in a mate. After a brief, unhappy marriage, I have been married to my “dream man” for almost 11 years. We are childless by choice, except for dogs, of course, and have a stable, calm, happy home which suits us both. I actually got every single thing I had on that list. I have great dogs and some meaningful volunteer work but nothing that allows me to contribute financially to my household, or feel like I have some kind of life purpose or am appreciated for what I do. I have some intuitive and healing abilities and seem to work best with other healers, kind of like a “healer’s healer”. This is nothing I make money with though it is soul fulfilling to do this work. Acting as a channel for spirit to heal someone is an awesome, humbling experience but to do it infrequently and have to “live off that” for months does not seem fair. I guess my question is if my chart indicates that I will ever have any chance to succeed in some type of work. While it is not currently necessary for me to work financially, it would go a long way towards fulfilling me personally and securing my financial future.

Your chart does show a life that has not been easy. You have 4 planets including the Sun, Mercury, Uranus and Pluto in Virgo in the 12th house opposed by Saturn and Chiron in Pisces in the 6th house. These positions challenge you to develop your own self worth regardless of the world’s response to you or your activities. Despite your history you are very bright, (your Gemini Moon in the 9th house of higher education) talented and well educated. You have worked hard, developed many skills, chosen consciously to ask for what you most wanted and to attract exactly that. That is an impressive record and set of accomplishments. With 6 of your planets in mutable signs you are multi talented with many interests and a great deal of potential, however, your chart is quite clear about your direction. You were born with Libra rising and 7 of your 10 planets in relationship signs indicating that you are here to find your true partner and you have. With both Saturn and Pluto in your 6th and 12th houses you are also here to find your true work which is a work of spiritual service. The north node of the Moon in Scorpio conjunct Neptune in Scorpio clearly reveals many lifetimes as a healer which makes your work healing the healers quite natural. Are you here to work, to have a career, be successful in the world, to contribute to the world? Yes, absolutely. Yet, the north node of the Moon in the 8th house is a sure sign that you need to allow your husband to take care of you financially, stop worrying about making money and know that your Neptune in the 2nd house will bring you all the money you need when you cease to focus on it and are truly surrendered to your soul in this arena. Interestingly, transiting Pluto will oppose your midheaven in approximately 3 years, transiting Saturn will cross your ascendant this fall and transiting Neptune will oppose Venus, your chart ruler, this year and into 2011,  along with transiting Uranus conjuncting your Saturn this year making these next few years the turning point in your creativity, your career and your happiness. Stay tuned and trust your soul for timing and direction. When someone has had a lot of pain and disappointment in life, choosing happiness and demanding nothing else until the next step unfolds joyfully is serious soul work. That is especially true when Venus rules the chart. Trust the power of joy.

I’ve never paid much attention to the courses of the moon until I moved to LA and started dating a Cancer. I consider myself a pretty intuitive person and I feel this new and full moon is an important one not only for me but for everyone! I want to be prepared for the change so what do you see as far as my career and relationship in respect to this coming change? My birthday is 1/29/80.

LG

What a perfect time for you to begin to pay attention to the moon! You have a Cancer moon yourself which is partly why you rightly consider yourself to be a pretty intuitive person. Dating a Cancer might be the ideal complement to your Cancer moon though it would help if your partner had some air in their chart to continue to interest your Aquarian Sun and Mercury. Transiting Pluto will reach an opposition to your natal Moon in 2011 and 2012 marking the next two years as one of the most transformative times in your life. For both of these reasons learning more about the Moon and beginning to focus on developing your intuition, your capacity for intimacy, exploring your inner world, finding and choosing to invest in activities such as yoga, journaling, therapy, energy work, meditation or any spiritual work or path that call you would be important this year as you prepare for the growth in your professional and personal life that is developing. This way you are preparing your path to the opening, growth and changes of the next two years of your life. Your recent relationship with a Cancer likely is a path to greater intimacy in relationship for you, a necessary balance to what is likely a fascinating Aquarian life. You asked about the new and full moons for March. The new Moon at 25 degrees of Pisces fell in your 4th house closely opposing your natal Saturn in your 10th house, a reminder that time for yourself at home recharging, nurturing and being present for yourself is just as important as the equally necessary focus you naturally give your Saturnian career. Working hard requires time to rest and be still focusing on what you feel and need inside and outside. The coming full Moon is 9 degrees of Libra falling in your 10th house conjuncting your progressed midheaven which is an impetus to assess where you are in your career, where you wish to be and what you may need to do to fully take advantage of transiting Saturn in your career house. This a period when you can and are laying the foundation for your future success. In addition to your Cancer Moon, you also have Scorpio rising, Venus and the south node of the Moon in Pisces as well as Uranus in Scorpio rising. You will soon find that you are much more than just a pretty intuitive person, in fact, you will discover a world of energy and awareness that will amaze and fulfill you. And, yes, you may receive a marriage proposal this year as Jupiter transits your Venus which rules your 7th house of marriage in a year when your progressed Venus is opposing Pluto.

m  Conjunction:  Like peas in a pod, planets in conjunction tend to come from the same place. They act together, but it’s also hard to tell them apart. This aspect can increase talent, focus, and intensity (“two are better than one”). Or one planet can disappear as the other dominates. Their connection feels so natural, it’s easy to think everyone blends these planetary energies just as you do—but mostly, they don’t!.

p  Sextile:  Planets in sextile are compatible, though without any fireworks. This aspect doesn’t demand your attention. It quietly presents an opportunity. You can join these archetypal forces. Donna Cunningham has called this the “Oh, that!” aspect, because that’s generally what her clients say when she describes their benefits.  To get the most from sextiles you need to actively work them.

q  Square:  Squares are wild and wonderful—but difficult too. The power struggle between these planets was likely defined in your youth, when they were impossibly challenging. People are usually aware of their squares. They force the issues that make you to grow. And that’s their gift. They ensure you learn your lessons. When you rise to the occasion, they bless you with energy, action, and success.

r  Trine:  Michael Munkasey has dubbed this the “goddess aspect” because it’s so lovely. Identifying talents you may have perfected in a previous life, trines can bring you joy. There’s a nice flow of energy between planets in trine. They support and reinforce each another. But without any struggle, you might take them for granted—neither using nor developing their gifts. An unattended trine can sometimes trick you into negative behaviors.

t  Inconjunct/Quincunx:  Your quincunx planets are innately incompatible. Bringing them into harmonious expression requires constant adjustments. This can be stressful, also motivating. You’ve got to keep changing your process, opinions or attitude—which promotes highly creative solutions.

u  Opposition:  They say opposites attract—and planets in opposition are never far from each other, though they’re constantly bickering. You may be triggered into awareness of this aspect by other people who seem to resist or undermine you.  An opposition can make you feel uncertain, insecure, or discontent, until you can accept and see yourself in both energies. Typically people find it easier to identify with one side and project the other onto unsuspecting others in the outer world.
