Ask the Oracle – December 28, 2012

By Julia Bondi

I am 45 (born August 31, 1967) and have gone through what I call the “spin cycle” of my life for the last 8 years or so. Everything I thought was a part of a grounded and forward moving life (I had a lot of success at a young age) came to a screeching halt in a tumultuous way. I understand this energy is shifting and will shift more significantly by the end of January and into the coming years. I am doing everything I can to stay still and grounded for the moment. Everything is about to be new and everything I thought was my “life” has been released (not always comfortably). There have been HUGE lessons and even many blessings in this period but now I am tired and work hard to rebuild strength, courage and vision but can be impatient! What can you share with me about these coming changes and best perspectives for making the most of the coming changes? Many thanks. (CB)

A screeching halt is absolutely correct! Born in 1967, you are part of the generation with the natal Uranus/Pluto conjunction of the 1960’s which transiting Pluto squared as it transited Sagittarius from 1995–2008 followed by transiting Uranus opposing those planets from 2003-2012. Not only would this period turn your life upside down in a dramatic manner, it would open the necessary doors to your life purpose and life work.

Your Uranus/Pluto conjunction is in later degrees of Virgo making the last 8 years just about the right time period for this intended and necessary redirection in your life. Appropriately, your “spin cycle” (a fun and accurate metaphor for Uranus/Pluto) has delivered enormous change, huge, demanding lessons and many blessings as it always does if we stay open to change. These mega transits are truly exhausting at every level, seem to go on forever and require nearly superhuman strength in order to stay present, open and trusting. In your case, not only were you born with the powerful Uranus/Pluto conjunction, you also have 3 other planets in Virgo (Sun, Mercury, and Venus) emphasizing the profound importance of finding your right work. In 2013 transiting Neptune will oppose your natal Venus followed in 2014 by an opposition to your natal Sun. In addition, 2013 will be the year transiting Uranus conjuncts your 1st house natal Saturn with Pluto closing in on its square to your Saturn in 2014. Oh my, quite a ride.

The next few years of Neptune oppositions to your Virgo planets will bring your destiny to you through lots of synchronicity, people, opportunities and profound guidance both internal and external. In a few weeks as your progressed Moon moves out of Pisces into Aries you will feel more energized and motivated. Both Uranus and Pluto will redefine who you are, where you are going and how your life has unfolded from its beginning until now as you see clearly what has not been fully true in your life, what has stopped you and how you can/must live in a different awareness in order to be successful again as the full person you are becoming. Facing this Saturn shadow will be intense and tremendously exciting. Jupiter’s current transit in your 3rd house is a rich time for ideas, learning and insightful conversations. Your solar arc progressed Moon, ruler of your 5th house, will conjunct your natal Sun in the 6th house in 18 months likely bringing you a creative, satisfying job or work opportunity, genuine pleasure in seeing significant results from the work you have been doing in your life, and maybe a romantic partner if you are seeking one or all of the above.

Other challenging progressions have recently ended freeing up more opportunities and leaving you feeling less challenged in the coming year and years. In 2019 transiting Neptune will conjunct your Ascendant fully implementing all that has unfolded for you. It is a very exciting time of renewal and potential. Over the next few years you will find both delight and peace with the future this “spin cycle” has produced.

[question]I am currently struggling with the way things have been turning out for me for the past 3-4 years. I feel the need for a major change but I have no clue what to do and I’m afraid of what it implies financially…I don’t have much savings and feel old for the first time. I was born May 12, 1970. My other question concerns somebody I would be saying goodbye to very soon. He came here 3 months ago as an exchange student and I believe I’m halfway in love with him. I have told myself not to expect anything and do believe I’m OK but I do wish I could make love with him even just once. I’ve had many chances, I think, but I can’t get up the courage to say it outright. I’d like to overcome this hurdle. Thanks a lot. (TO)[/question]

[answer]Transiting Pluto conjunct your Ascendant will surely make anyone of any age feel old and fearful. Yet, you correctly know you are more than ready for an empowering “major change” in your life. Note that these last two years have also been your midlife upset time – characterized by transiting Uranus opposite your natal Uranus – leaving you feeling old, restless, longing and ready for change.

This exchange student came into your life with transiting Jupiter in your 5th house of romance, suggesting that he is an appealing man worthy of your time, interest and friendship and maybe even someone you could develop a more serious relationship with in the future. However, I suspect he is a lovely taste of a romance to come when transiting Jupiter reaches your natal Venus/Mars conjunction in the spring at the only time that 12 year opportunity is accompanied by  progressed Mercury conjunct your natal Venus. As a Taurus with Mercury and Saturn conjunct your Sun, you are a cautious person who likely did not clearly signal your desire to this man but I think you were wise to wait until he asked you to become more intimate. Since he has not asked yet and you believe you may be a bit in love with him, protecting your heart unless he steps forward is a mature and protective decision for you.

You have amazing aspects for a wonderful relationship in the next couple of years. Your progressed Sun will conjunct your Descendant, the angle of marriage, in two-and-a-half to three years. At the same time, your progressed Venus (ruler of both your Taurus Sun and your 5th house of romance) is conjunct your 8th house Moon, the ruler of your 7th house of marriage. WOW!

Be patient, the ultimate lesson of the sign of Taurus, and know your partner will soon come into your life. If this exchange student is that man, he will make the decision to stay in touch with you allowing this to happen easily: if not, a friendship will not be ruined by an unfulfilled sexual encounter. We all understand the reality of financial concerns which are especially important to a Taurus with a strong Saturn. But both Uranus and Pluto have been telling you, quite loudly, that it is time to make that change when your guidance gives you a clue to follow – which may occur when your progressed Moon conjuncts the Moon’s North Node in your 2nd house in two to three months. You may move or go back to school or find an important spiritual path when your progressed solar arc Uranus opposes your natal Mercury, ruler of the 9th house, in six months. Stay tuned, and jump when the right opportunities present themselves.

m  Conjunction:  Like peas in a pod, planets in conjunction tend to come from the same place. They act together, but it’s also hard to tell them apart. This aspect can increase talent, focus, and intensity (“two are better than one”). Or one planet can disappear as the other dominates. Their connection feels so natural, it’s easy to think everyone blends these planetary energies just as you do—but mostly, they don’t!.

p  Sextile:  Planets in sextile are compatible, though without any fireworks. This aspect doesn’t demand your attention. It quietly presents an opportunity. You can join these archetypal forces. Donna Cunningham has called this the “Oh, that!” aspect, because that’s generally what her clients say when she describes their benefits.  To get the most from sextiles you need to actively work them.

q  Square:  Squares are wild and wonderful—but difficult too. The power struggle between these planets was likely defined in your youth, when they were impossibly challenging. People are usually aware of their squares. They force the issues that make you to grow. And that’s their gift. They ensure you learn your lessons. When you rise to the occasion, they bless you with energy, action, and success.

r  Trine:  Michael Munkasey has dubbed this the “goddess aspect” because it’s so lovely. Identifying talents you may have perfected in a previous life, trines can bring you joy. There’s a nice flow of energy between planets in trine. They support and reinforce each another. But without any struggle, you might take them for granted—neither using nor developing their gifts. An unattended trine can sometimes trick you into negative behaviors.

t  Inconjunct/Quincunx:  Your quincunx planets are innately incompatible. Bringing them into harmonious expression requires constant adjustments. This can be stressful, also motivating. You’ve got to keep changing your process, opinions or attitude—which promotes highly creative solutions.

u  Opposition:  They say opposites attract—and planets in opposition are never far from each other, though they’re constantly bickering. You may be triggered into awareness of this aspect by other people who seem to resist or undermine you.  An opposition can make you feel uncertain, insecure, or discontent, until you can accept and see yourself in both energies. Typically people find it easier to identify with one side and project the other onto unsuspecting others in the outer world.
