Ask the Oracle – March 27, 2013

By Julia Bondi

My birthday is May 19, 1971. Last year my life underwent a radical change. I found out in February that I was pregnant: and, in April, learned I was having twins. My husband got a new job and, subsequently, we moved away from my home town to a new city (my first time moving cities) mid-pregnancy. I left my job to become a stay at home Mom. I also lost two loved ones to cancer last year. Sometimes I feel like I’m still reeling from all the change that manifested in 2012. I want to embrace 2013 and all it has to offer, but I am feeling apprehensive about what is to come. I entered 2012 so full of positivity and motivation (having spent a great deal of 2011 in counseling for depression and anxiety) but had to let many of my dreams and goals go dormant while I navigated these huge life changes. I’m forever thankful for my beautiful, healthy children and how supported I was by friends/family/the Universe through all these big changes. But I can’t help hoping that 2012 will be a little easier, that I will come back a bit to myself and my center, and that we can find our forever home and make some new friends. Can you tell me if the astrological patterns for 2013 will be supportive of my intentions to ease into the role of “Mom” with balance and grace while maintaining my sense of self. And if I will have some help settling into my new community and finding kindred spirits. As a Taurean, I really value having roots and a home base/support network. Thank you so much for your insights and the opportunity to consult you. Many blessings. (RW)

In 2012, Jupiter gave: Neptune blessed and released. In 2012 transiting Jupiter was in Taurus conjunct your Sun/Saturn/Descendant, trine your Pluto, and sextile your Moon. You were blessed by your pregnancy, the birth of your beautiful children, your husband’s new job and the support you received from friends and family; and, as transiting Neptune squared your Neptune/Jupiter many of your dreams and goals had to be laid aside for now, you had to let go of your home base moving to a new location, home and community, and, most importantly, you lost two loved ones to cancer. Neptune’s blessings are rarely apparent at the outset of the transit though its losses are only too painfully clear, however, in time as you find your home base, build a network of friends and support in your new community and “ease” into your role as Mom, you will see the gifts and blessings Neptune intended for your future.

Both your natal Mars in Aquarius and your Nodes of the Moon in Aquarius and Leo have been powerfully aspected in the last year and will be again in 2013/2014, clarifying the importance of these recent changes/movements in your destiny path. The most important of the transits to these positions were transiting Uranus sextile your natal Uranus, transiting Saturn square your natal Uranus, your solar arc Moon square your natal Uranus and your solar arc Pluto square your natal Uranus, along with your secondary progressed Sun quincunx your natal Uranus. Your Nodes received a quincunx from secondary progressed Mercury, a square from solar arc Uranus and will next receive a square from transiting Saturn. This convergence of aspects stress your need to be willing, as you have been, to welcome change, movement into new places with new people and to release the past as you embrace the possibilities of where all of this change is directing you.

Will 2013 be easier? Yes, the Neptune transits are either complete (transiting Neptune square your natal Neptune) or will be by year’s end (transiting Neptune square your natal Jupiter). Transiting Saturn is now in your 12th house, suggesting the need to take time to nurture yourself, return to inner work, find a bit of quiet time, allow yourself to ease into your mother role, and utilize the techniques you learned to calm anxiety and find the messages in depression. This is not the time to push yourself to get it all done, which is a shadow behavior of the Taurus archetype; not when transiting Saturn will still be square your Mars until September, solar arc Pluto will still be square your Mars for a few more months as will your solar arc Moon. As transiting Neptune approaches a conjunction to your IC and opposes your MC (the home and career angles) synchronicity will either find your “forever” home for you or trust that you will find it at the right time, no pressure. It will be more productive to focus on your progressed Moon in Libra in the 11th house to make friends, join any groups that appeal to you and can be supportive as you review your goals allowing them to expand, grow and shift to express the woman you are becoming through all the massive changes you experienced in 2012. As your progressed Sun comes into a square to your natal Uranus, as transiting Uranus opposes your natal Uranus and transiting Pluto squares your natal Uranus, you will meet more change, need time to assimilate the changes that have happened and find your direction for the future which continues to awaken. Trust Uranus to show you the way to your “right” destiny.

I would like to know how to choose my life direction for the coming years. I was born September 1, 1953. I feel very frustrated at my work sitting at the computer with little contact with co-workers or customers other than by phone or email. I am bored and missing a lively atmosphere. I have done this work for 9 of the last 10 years. I dream of retiring to Berlin which I have visited often or, perhaps, another European city. I feel more at home when I am abroad. I do have a nice apartment of my own though I have a big loan to pay off. My two children are young adults with their own studies and jobs who contact me at least once a week as we now live in different cities. My energy level is high in the mornings but evaporates during my office hours leaving me exhausted at night and on the weekends. I have been working for 40 years with stints as a journalist, teacher, in banks and real estate offices but my profession has been as a secretary. I had a position as a secretary at one bank which was my favorite however that bank collapsed in 1992.

I was divorced in 1990, have had a serious love affair with a married man (my mistake) and several foreign men during my free years but none of these worked.

I am a bit afraid of my coming years since I live alone with a couple of friends and my retired brother and his wife in this town but not much company. Though I dream of some independent work, these are very unstable times in the EU countries when you can’t find another job and may even get sacked by your company. I haven’t found the courage to start my own business which might be a shop with astrology, handicrafts, books, flowers or some of the things I love. So, I don’t really know what’s coming and how long I can bear my situation. I am very energetic and youthful but am becoming quiet and isolated living like a hermit due to the situation. Please give me some advice on which way to proceed: bite my teeth in my current position, try to find another more suitable job, leave my job totally or move abroad with a minimum of income? I would not like to have a lonely old age as my mother, a widow, had living alone for 30 years. I am scared I have inherited this way of life though we are very different persons. She was an Aries. Can you help? MM

How to proceed is just the right question for a Virgo woman who has just completed her second Saturn return in 2012. In May of 2013 you will have a Jupiter return which suggests that you look back at where you were, what you wanted and how you have grown in the last 12 years in order to gain more perspective on where you are now, how you got here and where you want to direct your energy and dreams for the next 12 years. In 2014 transiting Jupiter will conjunct your Ascendant which will be a time to begin your life again expanding into a future that is more vital and satisfying. Your natal Saturn position is in the sign of Libra in the 5th house of children and romance ruling the 7th house of partnership.

Fortunately, you are not mourning a life without children, though you do not have the loving relationship with a partner that you have built and maintain with your two children. Looking at your natal Venus conjunction to your Ascendant, your North Node of the Moon in your 7th house conjunct your Descendant, and your natal Saturn in the house of romance conjunct Neptune trine your Moon/Jupiter and sextile your Mars/Pluto, I think your destiny is not to live the rest of your life alone but is to find a partner with whom you can share your life. You are likely to meet this partner later this year or next year as your progressed Venus moves into your 5th house of romance, trine your natal Moon (which rules your chart). In 2013, transiting Neptune completing its quincunx to your natal Venus may delay this meeting into 2014, however, this future should be reassuring.

Transiting Neptune is moving to conjunct your Midheaven, the career angle, in 2014 though you are already surely feeling the depressing, soul deadening impact of this transit at your current job. I would suggest looking for another position this spring during your Jupiter return as Jupiter co-rules your 10th house of career; partly, because there is a possibility of finding a better position during your Jupiter return but also I am a bit concerned that you may lose your current position as your solar arc Jupiter moves into a conjunction to your natal Pluto in 2014. Using Jupiter’s opportune energy to seek a better job which you are likely to find, even though this seems unlikely, is your best direction just now. Then take your time over the next year as transiting Jupiter moves into your 12th house to deepen your relationship with yourself, read and study spiritual material, and come to trust the future which is yours not that of your mother. Remember that Neptune will gift you with a deeper faith, the people and situations that can help you fulfill your dreams and your potential destiny if you prepare yourself to receive as you live gratefully.

m  Conjunction:  Like peas in a pod, planets in conjunction tend to come from the same place. They act together, but it’s also hard to tell them apart. This aspect can increase talent, focus, and intensity (“two are better than one”). Or one planet can disappear as the other dominates. Their connection feels so natural, it’s easy to think everyone blends these planetary energies just as you do—but mostly, they don’t!.

p  Sextile:  Planets in sextile are compatible, though without any fireworks. This aspect doesn’t demand your attention. It quietly presents an opportunity. You can join these archetypal forces. Donna Cunningham has called this the “Oh, that!” aspect, because that’s generally what her clients say when she describes their benefits.  To get the most from sextiles you need to actively work them.

q  Square:  Squares are wild and wonderful—but difficult too. The power struggle between these planets was likely defined in your youth, when they were impossibly challenging. People are usually aware of their squares. They force the issues that make you to grow. And that’s their gift. They ensure you learn your lessons. When you rise to the occasion, they bless you with energy, action, and success.

r  Trine:  Michael Munkasey has dubbed this the “goddess aspect” because it’s so lovely. Identifying talents you may have perfected in a previous life, trines can bring you joy. There’s a nice flow of energy between planets in trine. They support and reinforce each another. But without any struggle, you might take them for granted—neither using nor developing their gifts. An unattended trine can sometimes trick you into negative behaviors.

t  Inconjunct/Quincunx:  Your quincunx planets are innately incompatible. Bringing them into harmonious expression requires constant adjustments. This can be stressful, also motivating. You’ve got to keep changing your process, opinions or attitude—which promotes highly creative solutions.

u  Opposition:  They say opposites attract—and planets in opposition are never far from each other, though they’re constantly bickering. You may be triggered into awareness of this aspect by other people who seem to resist or undermine you.  An opposition can make you feel uncertain, insecure, or discontent, until you can accept and see yourself in both energies. Typically people find it easier to identify with one side and project the other onto unsuspecting others in the outer world.
