Ask the Oracle – September 15, 2008

By Julia Bondi

Approximately 3 years ago an emotional crisis shook my “reality’ and with much introspection and guidance, I have changed my life. I feel I have opened many blocks but there is one that eludes me. I cannot seem to act on what I want from my life. I have talent in the arts and have, in fits and starts, pursued my interest in sculpture and silversmithing. My efforts have been met with very positive feedback – I have even had fantastic successes – but the moment I succeed, I recoil. My tendency is towards isolation but I long to be part of something. I have let myself and my talents languish by procrastinating and being content to daydream about what I can accomplish in the future. I know that I am capable intellectually but art is emotion and passion and I cannot feel mine easily. Can you give me any insight into this issue? My birth information is 9/9/63. I really appreciate your consideration and hope you can help.  JS

Over the last 3 to 5 years you have experienced transiting Uranus opposing your natal stellium in Virgo as well as squaring your Moon. No wonder your life has changed, opened and been rocked by personal crisis. I am sure that your chart ruler, Mars, in Libra, along with your Uranus/Pluto conjunction in the 5th house of the artist and your Venus conjunction to your Sun and Pluto describe the talented artist you are. The questions you raise regarding your passion, motivation and tendency to isolate are important ones. Your 5 planets in mutable signs, Moon in Gemini and retrograde Mercury are all indicators of how much easier it is for you to think about, intend and plan your life and future than it is for you to actively pursue that future. Though Aries rises in your chart and Mars is conjunct the descendant opposite the ascendant, Mars is in compliant and idealistic Libra with no major aspects to other natal planets to forcefully activate your natural passion, motivation and desire. Don’t underestimate the impact of your natal Saturn in an air sign squaring your Venus exaggerating the tendency to procrastinate and think about the future rather than act on that future. I am sure you are not only a talented artist but, perhaps, masterful in your skills which will become obvious as you learn to fully tap your 6th house Sun and planets and your south node in Capricorn. What to do, how to release your potential? Transiting Jupiter at your midheaven is an opportune time for success in your work, transiting Saturn in Virgo aspecting your Virgo stellium means this is the time to work at developing your career and skills though it is likely the Uranus transit to your Sun and Venus this year that is provoking your question and reflection. You can use this time to open up even more. Transiting Pluto will square your natal Mercury in a little more than a year which will both allow you and force you to stop daydreaming and get moving while your progressed Sun moving into Scorpio indicates a deepening sense of your strength and power to achieve what you desire. In addition to these strong and positive influences your progressed Mars will move out of Scorpio into fiery Sagittarius over the next year which will help you to feel more positive and motivated as well as inspired and purposeful. Your tendency to isolate is revealed by your strong Sun/Pluto conjunction but it is crucial for you to trust your 7th house Mars by choosing to be engaged with others and in community which will be a powerfully motivating choice.

My birth data is 9/4/39. My desire to bring healing to my body has magically given me release from a long standing relationship problem and a reconnection to astrology and spirit/meditation. Any suggestions to add to that list?

JF

You have shared a wonderful example of how deeply and powerfully everything is connected. If we choose healing in any area of our lives that healing will also produce magical results throughout our lives. As a Virgo Sun with your Venus and Neptune also in Virgo healing is a natural path for your sign. In addition to your Virgo planets you were born with Pluto in the 6th house, the house of health. The combination of these two powerful influences insists that you focus on your health – physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually in this lifetime. As you allowed your desire for healing your body to surface, committed to that desire to heal and followed through on your desire, you released your natal Pluto to activate its opposition point in the 12th house, the house of our transcendent connection to our soul and its evolution. Thus your desire to heal your body has also brought you back to your earlier connection to astrology, spiritual growth and meditation, the affairs of the 12th house. The position of your Virgo planets in the 7th house of relationships revealed how intertwined healing your body and release from your long standing relationship were for you. Over the last few years you have been catalyzed by transiting Uranus opposing your Virgo planets in the 7th house and transiting Neptune has been conjuncting your ascendant as well as squaring your Moon/Uranus conjunction which rules your 6th house of health. It is fascinating and reassuring to see how perfectly our planetary map illuminates our path and our evolution. My suggestions would include you choosing a course of serious study that can engage and refine your mind (utilizing your Moon/Uranus in the 3rd house of the mind as well as supporting the focus of Uranus, your chart ruler), developing your interest in astrology which is a perfect stimulation for your natal Uranus, continuing to meditate to access your 12th house, making sure you have a community of people to relate to and converse with as you develop your 7th house connections, and deepening your own healing abilities to activate your north node in Scorpio in the 8th house. Transiting Jupiter will soon be entering your 1st house beginning a new 12 year cycle of growth and opportunity for you to enjoy!

m  Conjunction:  Like peas in a pod, planets in conjunction tend to come from the same place. They act together, but it’s also hard to tell them apart. This aspect can increase talent, focus, and intensity (“two are better than one”). Or one planet can disappear as the other dominates. Their connection feels so natural, it’s easy to think everyone blends these planetary energies just as you do—but mostly, they don’t!.

p  Sextile:  Planets in sextile are compatible, though without any fireworks. This aspect doesn’t demand your attention. It quietly presents an opportunity. You can join these archetypal forces. Donna Cunningham has called this the “Oh, that!” aspect, because that’s generally what her clients say when she describes their benefits.  To get the most from sextiles you need to actively work them.

q  Square:  Squares are wild and wonderful—but difficult too. The power struggle between these planets was likely defined in your youth, when they were impossibly challenging. People are usually aware of their squares. They force the issues that make you to grow. And that’s their gift. They ensure you learn your lessons. When you rise to the occasion, they bless you with energy, action, and success.

r  Trine:  Michael Munkasey has dubbed this the “goddess aspect” because it’s so lovely. Identifying talents you may have perfected in a previous life, trines can bring you joy. There’s a nice flow of energy between planets in trine. They support and reinforce each another. But without any struggle, you might take them for granted—neither using nor developing their gifts. An unattended trine can sometimes trick you into negative behaviors.

t  Inconjunct/Quincunx:  Your quincunx planets are innately incompatible. Bringing them into harmonious expression requires constant adjustments. This can be stressful, also motivating. You’ve got to keep changing your process, opinions or attitude—which promotes highly creative solutions.

u  Opposition:  They say opposites attract—and planets in opposition are never far from each other, though they’re constantly bickering. You may be triggered into awareness of this aspect by other people who seem to resist or undermine you.  An opposition can make you feel uncertain, insecure, or discontent, until you can accept and see yourself in both energies. Typically people find it easier to identify with one side and project the other onto unsuspecting others in the outer world.
