This Moon rises after three in the morning and sets mid-afternoon. I love to watch for this Moon each morning. Its crescent of light that grows thinner and thinner until it finally disappears in the light of the Sun. That’s when I know the New Moon is just around the corner.

From Dana Gerhardt’s Moon Workshop
If you honor just one Moon phase each month, make it this one. Resting now will bring great benefits. Simply pick one drawer, one cubby, one little square foot in your garage – and clear it now. Just don’t make a big deal out of it, or you probably won’t do it at all. Energy is often low during the Dark Moon. Target a manageable space. One of those clutter spots that nag at you. Toss what you don’t need. Consider a simpler life. Do the same with at least one of your mental closets. Release an attachment that binds you. Then rest. In clearing physical and mental space, you make a metaphysical statement: You’re charging your environment and your mind. You’re inviting something better and new to pour in at the next waxing Moon. This is one of the most potent times in the entire lunar cycle, when you prepare by dissolving, detoxing, letting go. Eat light. Drink lots of water. Cultivate peace; practice the art of refraining. Reflect events around you like a still, serene pond.
This Moon’s gift is Rest.
Release. Finish your project and enjoy the feeling of completion. Do not start anything new just yet. Slow down and meet yourself. The psyche needs to stare and drool a bit. It’s emptying out. That newly opened space is what attracts new inspirations during the New Moon.
Its foundation element is Air.
Appreciate the gift of air. Breathe… open windows, listen to music, stimulate your soul with natural scents that ride on the air. New ideas are in the wind. Let your mind go as freely as the soar.
What do you most need to learn this phase?
Gently turn yourself to the future. Let your excitement for the next phase build slowly and naturally. This peaceful pause keeps the wheel of creativity turning.
Are you touching the Moon? It’s one thing to read about the Moon, but another to tune into her with energetic sensitivity. The first method is mental; the second is sensuous and intuitive (which is of course the preferred way to grasp the Moon). Dana’s Moon Workshop can support you in developing an exciting, organic relationship with the Moon.
