I’d been meaning to make it out to my friend Star’s ranch to meet her latest batch of baby goats, so I was thrilled to hear about her new Blissful Goat Yoga classes (link: www.theblissfulgoat.life). In case you haven’t yet heard of this phenomenon, which has taken the Internet by storm, Goat Yoga is a fun way to enjoy these adorable animals while being guided through child’s pose and downward dog on the grass.
“Just be sure to wear a hoodie,” Star cautioned. “They like to chew your hair.” As it turned out, the kids were more interested in my earrings than my hair. And one of them did pee on a friend’s yoga mat. But otherwise it was a fantastic experience, with lots of giggles and cuddles all around.
Getting down and dirty with nature is the theme of next Wednesday’s Taurus New Moon (April 26, 5:16 a.m. PDT). The Sun and Moon join in the earthy sign of Taurus, sextile gentle, compassionate Neptune. And, a Mercury-Uranus conjunction, exact on that day, opens our minds and hearts to fun new activities and adventurous ways of looking at life.
The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon at 7 degrees Taurus is: “The woman of Samaria at the ancestral well.” Dane Rudhyar interpreted this symbol as “the meeting of the traditional past and of the creative spirit pointing to the future.” He reminds us that, “The creative future descends first to that which has become chaos.” So take heart if things have been up in the air lately; the future is being born – no matter how crazy life may seem.
Whether you cuddle baby animals or find other ways to open your mind and heart to nature, spend some time outdoors at this earthy New Moon. It falls less than a week before Beltane, the ancient fertility festival, so enjoy the luscious, fertile energies and affirm abundance and well-being. Mercury is still retrograde through May 3; just take things slowly and do your best to enjoy the ride.

Thank god it’s Venus-time. This winter was hard. But this week I am in the middle of redesigning my front yard.
