Lately I’ve been giving a lot of things away. Inspired by Marie Kondo’s philosophy of blessing and releasing items that no longer spark joy, I’ve dug deep into cabinets and closets and let go of many items – everything from Mom’s old punchbowl set and Dad’s tools, to some lovely jewelry and clothes that just aren’t “me” anymore (but have delighted friends who took them home).
Though my house wasn’t cluttered to begin with (I do practice Astro Feng Shui, after all!), I’ve found this process of digging deeper to be liberating. Paring down and lightening up has even helped me face up to some feelings I’ve been avoiding for a long time. Letting go really does open up space. My Virgo mom would have agreed. Despite being married to a hoarder, she kept her personal space neat and sparse. After she passed, it took my sister and I only a few hours to sort through her belongings.
“A place for everything, and everything in its place,” is the Virgo mantra. This practical, earthy sign signifies the process of separating the wheat from the chaff. Though not all Virgo types manage to keep their homes pin-perfect, they certainly admire those who do! The upcoming Virgo Full Moon (Feb. 19, 7:53 a.m. PST), which will be the brightest Supermoon of the year, gives all of us a big push in the direction of greater order – as long as we’re also willing to sweep away what no longer serves. That’s the message of the Sun sliding into wet and wild Pisces on Monday to oppose the orderly Virgo Moon on Tuesday. Perhaps you’re already feeling this energy. The Full Moon chart highlights the Mars-Uranus conjunction, which lit a fire under many of us last week to get on with what we came here to do. And this Full Moon is the express train which speeds us to our new destination, despite a few stops and starts along the way.
Also on Monday, Mercury joins Neptune in Pisces and squares Jupiter in let’s-do-it-Sagittarius. This starts the week off on an idealistic, changeable note that Tuesday’s Virgo-Pisces Full Moon only amplifies. It seems like a mismatch – careful, strategic Virgo and mystical, otherworldly Pisces. But we can integrate the two to create a vision, then make a plan to actualize it. Both signs are mutable, or willing to bend. So as long-standing problems are brought to light, clever ways of solving them are also apt to appear. Pisces washes away the past, while Virgo sketches a roadmap to the future. Not only does the Mars-Uranus conjunction support this lunation, but Venus will be near both Pluto and Saturn, adding urgency and a desire to get down to brass tacks, especially in relationships. And, with Mercury square Jupiter, things happen fast. Why not cooperate with this process by letting your old baggage be swept away? Begin by cleansing and de-cluttering your home, office, garage or car. Pay attention to any new path that gets revealed in the process. Then when your express train appears, hop on board and enjoy the ride!
