Neptune entered Aries on March 30, 2025. He’ll briefly slip back into Pisces on October 22, then fully ingress into Aries on January 26, 2026, where he’ll be until March 2039.
The ancient Greeks understood: sometimes the gods just like to mess with us. In March of 2011, as Neptune prepared to enter his oceanic home sign, Pisces, this trident-bearing, earth-shaking Sea God shuddered the land off the tip of Japan, sending a tidal wave inland, dragging homes, cars, and lives into the deep, while also triggering the Fukushima nuclear disaster.
Archetypes tend to work at both ends of their continuum—what we would call their “good” and “bad” expressions. I had high hopes for Neptune’s transit through transcendent Pisces. I consider myself a Neptunian, as are many of my clients, more porous to the misty realms of intuition, imagination, spirituality, art and dream. I was excited about how these Neptunian threads would be newly woven into the collective. But I never imagined that by the end of Neptune’s 14-year trip through Pisces, “invisible friends” would become a real thing, with names like Alexa, Siri, Claude and ChatGPT. Or that neuroscience would finally catch up with ancient mysticism. Spiritual practices like meditation, breathwork, and contemplation are now regularly recommended by scientists and therapists, not just monks.
Outer planets like Neptune sweep through generations, turning old worlds into new ones. But all gods have their shadows. Neptune drives both dreams and disillusionment. This archetype strengthens compassion, spirituality, artistic creativity, and perceptions of alternate realities—also escapism, cult-thinking, drugs, deception, addictions, and fame-obsessions. Neptune in Pisces gave us a flood of fentanyl, social media influencers, and the viral spread of misinformation, a fog of unreality blurring once agreed-on truths.
Now, in spring 2025, Neptune drops Poseidon’s robes and trades his trident for a sword. He enters Aries, donning the tunic of the Greek War God, Ares, who’s raw, impulsive, and often reviled by the other gods. He’s the untamed force of battle, a brash, hot-tempered agent of chaos and violence. He likes to listen to himself and no one else. Ares arising represents a seismic shift in the collective myth.
Within days of Neptune entering Aries, it was as if the War God himself had dropped from the heavens into the form of a powerful man on a very high horse, launching a trade war with nearly every country in the world, crashing markets and dissolving 6 trillion dollars in wealth virtually overnight. His reasoning was a mystery to most economic experts. As is appropriate for Neptune, the explanations were foggy and constantly shifting. But this isn’t the only war this Ares avatar is fighting; there are “wars” against DEI and Tren de Agua, a Venezuelen gang. Meanwhile, there’s the chain-saw-waving billionaire taking a hasty wrecking ball to government jobs and services, while his gang plunders our once-secure data.
How quickly Neptune-in-Aries has transported us into a battle zone. It’s not at all consoling to learn that two days after Neptune last entered Aries, in the spring of 1861, the US Civil War began at Fort Sumter.
Yet the final expression of any transit—especially Neptune’s—isn’t dictated by fate alone. It’s shaped by human hands. By the choices we make when the dream turns stormy, or when the fog gives way to fire. We can’t control the tides of history. But we can shape our place inside the new story. Free will is a powerful thing.
Here’s another expression of Neptune-in-Aries: around the country people are rising up. Without leaders, without plan, they respond to an inner call. A town organizes to protect its immigrant neighbors. A thousand people gather within an hour of a student’s abduction. These are soul-driven actions, leaderless warriors moved not by command but by conscience.
When Neptune was in Pisces, being was the focus. Now in Aries, it’s about doing. This is a sign of action. In Pisces we may have dreamed of dissolving into the One; in Aries we’re being asked to birth our separate selves. To become who we truly are. At the “good” end of the Aries continuum–opposite the Bully and the Fraudster–are the Protector and the Pathfinder. Neptune-in-Aries is about taking soul-directed action into uncharted lands. When you stand as you were meant to stand, even if you’re not feeling fully formed, you can expect an infusion of new strength, motivation and bravery. Which brings us to the question: How might Neptune-in-Aries be moving through you?
Here are 10 signs that he’s put you under his spell.
1. You catch yourself saying, “I can’t take this anymore.”
There’s a rising urgency to act—on a dream, a truth, or a desire that’s waited too long. This is a threshold moment. Don’t ignore it.
2. You’re more sensitive to anger—in yourself and others.
Life burns hotter now. You react more quickly. Old wounds flare. But if you dare to name what’s true, this fire will transform you.
3. Someone close to you makes a bold move—and it jolts you awake.
Their bold action—risky, brave, or sudden—forces you to confront your own fears, longings, or inertia. This is the time for courage.
4. You’re no longer willing to betray yourself.
Even in small ways. Even to keep the peace. You want to be seen clearly, to live more honestly. Pretending feels unbearable now.
5. You’re feeling called—by life, God, art, the Earth.
Not in words. In a pulse, a whisper, a pressure behind your ribs. Even though you may not feel ready—you begin anyway.
6. You feel physically restless—and hungry to build strength.
Your body wants movement, challenge, and renewal. You crave physical resilience—you may feel the urge commit to a new exercise routine that builds stamina and strength.
7. You feel hopeless and overwhelmed, like your very survival is being tested.
On a battlefield, it is easy to feel overwhelmed, your very life is threatened. And still—there is something in you that can push through the despair.
8. You’re asked to give something up—something that matters.
A sacrifice is required. Maybe it’s a belief, a role, a relationship. Something must be left behind to walk forward.
9. You act impulsively, then realize it was exactly what you needed.
There may be cleanup, but there’s also clarity. The bold move felt right because it was.
10. You feel shaken at the soul level—like life is initiating you.
It may come as a crisis of meaning or a traumatic moral injury. You witness or endure something that offends your deepest values. This doesn’t just challenge you—it alters you. It’s more than hardship. It’s mythic.
What a wonderful article. Every word feels true. There was also a “take heed” aspect — like warnings. Very much appreciated!
Glad you liked it!
Oh Dana! That was a breath of fresh air to this Aries. Brought a tear to my eye and I’ve shared it with those with eyes to see. Thank you. XX Maria
Oh My Goddess! Yes, I am feeling all of these things! sometimes several of them at once. These latest astro energies are shaking me to my core….hopefully it will also shake out some fruit!
Thank you Dana, You have truly described my feelings and impulse but I’m still feeling uncertain as to where/how to step forth into creative and meaningful action….
That’s the Neptunian part, the uncertainty! That’s because you don’t “figure it out.” You get quiet and find the soul’s answer in your heart, not your head.
Oooohhh the story telling was so good Dana you really captured the current story, the characters of the archetypes in line with the astrology and the wonderful drama currently unfolding. I thought you were going to get politically biased like so many other astrologers that I have lost respect for; but you hovered above and spoke of the archetypes and the influence of the planets only and you placed the players into the architypical roles and lo and behold you; if I am not mistaken – even portrayed Trump as a bit of a hero Aries style (which I firmly believe he is).
Thank you Dana for the clarity !
I consider myself a Neptunian too. New chapters always bring a fresh lease of life. Looking forward and ahead!
intensive, inspiring, clear and helpful. Thanks
and also for your information about 12th House, it made me cry for real, all you wrote opened to me my own world where Neptun sleeps next to Venus in the 12th House.
much love
thanks
Debora
Thanks, Debora! Neptune and the 12th have many gifts, once we develop the eyes to see them.
