3 Simple Gestures for the Leo New Moon

Your inner lioness—your Wild Divine Feminine self—is roaring. Now is the time to listen.

The Leo new moon is calling you to express your confident, creative, and compassionate feminine self. No holding back. But first, you must explore your fears of greatness.

Fears of greatness? Naw. You’re solid. You know you’ve got this. You’re ready. But are you? Fears of being too much or not enough might still be sneaking through your head and heart.

You are certain the Wild Divine Feminine lives inside you. You know she’s powerful and graceful. But how do you reach her? How can you be her without also being arrogant, attention seeking or overly dramatic?

You go backward.  Just as the divine goddess Venus is currently doing in our new moon sign, Leo.  What does it mean to go backward? Get younger. Start by imagining your wild self as a lion cub. Baby lions LOVE to play! They learn their fierce hunting skills at the feet (and tails) of their elders. As they climb on and roll over their mamas and each other, they imagine themselves as brave and bold hunters. They will be, someday. But as youngsters, they get to practice growing into their greatness. They will make mistakes, overcompensate, and underperform – all things that make an adult Leo cringe.

So that’s the game I invite you to play at this new moon. Let yourself become a spontaneous and vulnerable child again. Paradoxically, that is the celestial short cut to finding your strength!

To that end, I’m offering three gestures, three holy movements to draw you into the heart of this Leo New Moon.

First, cavort and wiggle.

Baby lions have a tremendous amount of bouncy energy! They are curious about everything, ready for any opportunity to play. Just as their powerful life-force is awake, alive and needs to move, so is yours.

It’s time to feel that energy in your own body! You can start by bringing awareness to your feet. Breathe into them until you feel the tingling response of your cells. Then, consciously draw this tingly energy up through your legs so that it circles around your tailbone.  As these cells start to awaken, you can’t help but wiggle! Wiggling your entire body moves all that energy to every part of you. Do this as many times as you want to and have some fun while you are doing it! Your playful movements are powerful.

Second, spot and gather.

Moving your energy eventually brings you into greater awareness of all that is around you. It’s like you’re dancing with the space. Until something captures your attention and draws your whole focus into a single point. You’re like a baby lion. When something dazzles your vision—a bird, a moth, or a playful fairy—you naturally halt, get very still, and focus.  Your breath slows as your attention gathers. You’re drawing into the crouch before you leap.  And the thing that’s dancing before you? The image that captures your attention? It’s a long cherished dream of yours coming tree. See it shimmering into clarity in front of you.

Third, pounce and savor.

The excitement of your energy keeps building–and then you can’t hold  yourself back anymore. You’re overwhelmed by the joy in your heart as you pounce!  A small jump or step can start you off.  And then, feel yourself unleashed, wild with delight, leaping into the bright future that you know is waiting. And now, mixing vision and movement, enjoy a little victory dance. Feel your wild feminine self flowing through every cell. Let your body fill with vitality, inspiration, and pleasure. Your lioness has emerged.  Happy Leo new moon!
