Feeling Held Again: A Cancer Full Moon Reset

Sacred Vedic texts say that if the Goddess Devi closes her eyes for just one second, the entire universe will disappear. This may sound mythic, even extravagant—but something very similar happens each time we lose our felt connection to the Divine Feminine, to what I call the Great Mama Field.

We fall—into a world that feels dull, unkind, chaotic, or strangely empty. Meaning thins out. Our own sense of significance fades. The Cancer Full Moon is a powerful moment to reset this connection—to re-enter a field of belonging, care, and quiet intelligence that has always been here.

The Body Remembers the Goddess

You don’t need any special equipment for this practice; it’s already installed and paid for. The machinery lives in your body, beautifully designed by the contributory streams of your ancestors. Their experiences, adaptations, and wisdom patterned your DNA. Sitting under a Full Moon begins to awaken this ancient knowing.

But to go further, you must engage the imagination—not as fantasy, but as a sensory bridge. Imagination is the ruby slipper that reliably takes us home. To perceive the Great Mama Field, we must first imagine it.

This is not self-deception. You aren’t tricking yourself into seeing what isn’t there. You are using imagination to awaken the body’s ability to sense subtler realms—real fields of experience that modern culture has largely forgotten how to perceive.

Under a Cancer Full Moon, when I imagine myself resting in the arms of the Great Mother, I feel immersed in a benevolent, intelligent presence that fills all of space. My experience of the world changes. The air thickens. A more palpable field of energy seems to surround me, as if something invisible has quietly stepped forward.

Learning to Shape the Field

I can play with my awareness of this field. I can add qualities—or soften others. If I’m feeling lonely, I invite warmth, belonging, and connection. These qualities already exist here; by imagining them, I become sensitive enough to perceive them. I feel held by something vast and loving.

On the wings of imagination, I sense that I am welcome—and that so is everyone and everything. There is stability here, and safety. There is movement, but also harmony and flow. Someone is taking care of things.

Nestled in the Great Mama Field, my breath deepens. I relax. I become more patient with suffering and mystery. I trust more easily. There are resources here. Reweaving myself into the Divine Feminine fabric of everything means that what exists becomes available to me—support, insight, possibility.

From this field, I can draw down new understanding, soften an old memory, or send subtle ripples into my future. When I call out, I am less surprised when something answers. I remember what it feels like to be supported.

Just as Devi can dissolve a world by closing her eyes, she can birth one by opening them.
May you birth a new world under this Cancer Full Moon.

First imagine. Then locate the Great Goddess in the air that surrounds you. With practice, you can become quite skillful at weaving the universe into a more benevolent basket. At each Full Moon, you can weave yourself whole.

This is an essential Moon skill.
Try it.
