This Full Moon is the last of the season. The Sun-in-Virgo is here to help us find our ground again. This is helpful because society starts to speed up at this time. Here in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s back to school, vacation gone, holiday stuff already in the stores; everywhere… it’s rush, rush, rush. All this can overwhelm the nervous system and digestion. The Virgo area of the body is our digestive organs.
Thank goodness for the balancing polarity of the Full Moon. The intensity will be different for each of us, depending on our own charts and our own current life happenings. Pisces rules the feet and imagination. It invites us to bring feet and dreams together, which suggests the perfect pose to bring Virgo and Pisces together, “Refined Shoelace Pose” or an easier variation, “Happy Baby.”
Find a cozy spot. Lie down. Make sure there’s good support for your head and your back. Hug your thighs or knees into your torso. Breathe and take in how this shape feels. If it feels right, move around a little. Circle around your spine, check out your hip flexors and legs.
For “Shoelace,” stack right thigh over left thigh. Your lower legs will be crossed. Take your left hand to your right foot (or ankle) and your right hand to your left foot. Placing a pillow or block under your head might help you grab your feet (or lower legs) with greater ease. Then you might pull your feet either further out to the sides or down by your hips, depending on how you want to feel the shape. Close your eyes and try to take at least 5 breaths or a full minute of deep breaths.
The Pisces symbol is the Fish. Your feet are like your fish tail. Notice your feet and send gratitude for them and how they power you through each day. Then take a moment to unravel and shake out/rest before doing the other side.
If “Shoelace” bothers your knees or feels inaccessible at the moment, try “Happy Baby” instead. Lie down. Bend your knees toward your shoulders and then lift your feet. Grab your feet (either from inside the legs or from the outer edge of the feet…it can be your preference). You can explore pressing feet into hands and hands into feet, or you can try some traction by pulling the feet out/down a bit to get into the hip crease areas of where your pelvis meets your legs.
