Moon practice is best when it’s embodied practice.
We’ll bring our awareness to the Earth with a simple seated pose for the Taurus New Moon. On the day of the New Moon, or perhaps, if it’s convenient, at the very moment of the New Moon, take precious time for yourself with a simple grounding posture that will also open space in your neck, the part of the body that Taurus rules.
Sit comfortably on the floor (preferably near plants or even outside), with knees bent and feet resting on the floor.
Your right knee stays in place as you let your left knee fall gently to the left. Bring your left foot to rest on the ground underneath your right thigh. Bring both hands to your right knee or shin. Ground down through your seat. Sit tall.
Soften your throat. Swallow and clear your throat. Now imagine that a plant is growing up from your heart into a clear blue sky that is in your throat. Breathe.
When this feels complete, bring your left hand to right knee/shin and turn your torso to the right for a gentle twist. Try to stay level and actively weighted through both sides of your seat.
Take your right hand across your chest and around to the back of your neck. Let your right elbow relax and just hold your neck within the seated twist. Feel the self-love and stay for a few breaths.
Repeat the sequence on the other side.
Believe in your body and the Earth’s body. Connect to the Taurus feeling.
