What can you actually do with a Pisces Lunar Eclipse? Pisces is the mystic adrift—dreamy, boundless, and elusive. Yet right across from this drifting Moon is the Virgo Sun, who has his feet planted firmly in the soil; together, they suggest this is a delicious time for anchoring the ethereal in the everyday.
During a regular water Full Moon, your porous nature deepens. You more easily absorb moisture, color, and subtle impressions. But a Pisces Lunar Eclipse marks a threshold of saturation. The tide reaches its absolute high-water mark, leaving the psyche waterlogged—carrying subtle energies, unspoken fatigue, and emotional weight you didn’t realize you were holding.
With the tide already at its high-water mark, you don’t need to add more. Instead, you can use water’s wonderful dissolving power to lift what is stuck and flush out whatever has built to excess. Clear your space and your psyche. Release what’s unnecessary.
Practical Ways to Work with the Eclipse Tide
Flush Plant Roots: Give garden beds or houseplants that are ready for water a deep, thorough drenching. In well-drained soil, a generous watering can flush accumulated mineral salts and, if fertilizing, carry nutrients more deeply into the root zone.
Release Deep-Set Household Stains: Water softens what has hardened over time. For carpets, fabrics, and long-neglected corners, moisture can loosen and draw out the stubborn stains that have been laughing at your surface scrubbing.
Shed Dull Skin with Mud and Clay: Instead of heavy, rich creams, try a drawing treatment like a clay or mud mask. Clay absorbs excess surface oils as it dries—a satisfying way to enact the eclipse theme of drawing out rather than adding in.
Give Laundry a Rinse and Refresh: Porous fibers hold onto odors, detergent, and old grime. A deep soak and thorough rinse can release accumulated residue and leave fabrics feeling genuinely refreshed.
Empty What’s Been Swirling Inside: Pisces can leave us carrying impressions, worries, and feelings we haven’t quite named. Take ten minutes with a blank page and write without stopping or editing. Don’t try to understand or solve anything. Let whatever has accumulated pour onto the page, then leave it there.
Have a Good Cry: Tears are one of the body’s natural ways of expressing what the psyche can’t always put into words. If emotion rises, don’t hurry to contain or explain it. Let the tears come. Sometimes the simplest way to release what’s accumulated is to let it flow.
Pisces Lunar Eclipse Cautions
Because your energetic and physical filters may feel especially permeable now, an over-full system is easily taxed.
Go easy on intoxicants: With sensitivity heightened, this is not the moment to overload the system. Alcohol, caffeine, and other intoxicants can add more stimulation or fog to an already saturated state. Less may feel like plenty.
Watch for water retention: Over the years, I’ve noticed that watery eclipses can coincide with feeling puffy, heavy, or lethargic. If this is you, don’t respond by restricting water. Stay comfortably hydrated and go easy on salty foods.
Draining the Eclipse Overload: The Epsom Soak
When the system feels overloaded, a salt bath offers a simple ritual of release.
Draw a comfortably warm bath and dissolve two cups of Epsom salts. Give yourself ten or fifteen quiet minutes in the water. Salt baths have long been used to ease tired bodies, while the simple ritual beautifully mirrors the work of this eclipse: soaking, softening, releasing.
Soak without trying to fix or direct your mind. Let yourself become still in the water. Imagine the excess loosening—fatigue, psychic debris, whatever you have absorbed without noticing—and let your inner tide naturally recede. Offer your thanks to Nature and this Pisces Eclipse.
