Revolved Half Moon variations
With the Sun in Pisces and the Moon fully illuminated in Virgo, we reach the last Full Moon of the season. Dropping into the energies of water and earth, we might find a little order midst the swirling currents of chaos, compassion, and imagination. The Pisces region of the body is the feet, the base for body and soul. The Virgo region brings us into our digestive system, where we process the information our body receives.
Find a steady place where you can stand in a balancing shape. This could be near a wall or beside a chair for extra support.
Begin by finding your feet. Notice their connection to the ground. Inhale your arms skyward and exhale into a forward fold, protecting your lower back by hinging at the crease in your hips. Stay folded as you inhale again; then, on the exhale, find your way back up to stand.
Now let your body explore its current conditions. You could take some standing side bends. Do some gentle hip swaying and/or shaking of the limbs to draw your awareness more fully into your range of movement today.
When you’re complete with this investigation, fold forward and find your fingertips connecting to the ground or a block. Reach your right leg back behind you. Take a few breaths to find your steadiness. If it feels right, lift your left arm out to the side, while opening your chest to the side. This will bring active attention to your core from all sides, and allow for the energetic blend of earth (Virgo/digestion) and water (Pisces/feet).
Stay for as many breaths as you can hold with ease; then release, shake out, and prepare for the other side.
After exploring both sides of the shape, you might be inspired to continue your yoga practice. Or you might head to the window or venture outside to connect with the Moon in prayer. Each Full Moon brings a powerful opportunity for sacred connection. First we connect to self; then we go outside for precious moments under and with the Moon.
A message may present itself. Or—silently—without your conscious awareness, the body may receive a download that will release into your future awareness at just the right moment.
